Hello Ken, 1st try to locate the birth certificate of Elizabeth born 20th June 1882 in Glasgow, you will get this from Edinburgh. On the birth certificate you will also get the parents marriage details, if they were married in Scotland after 1855, you will also get that certificate in Edinburgh. When you get the marriage certificate, that will give you details of both of their parents and whether they were still alive, then you can look for deaths. Scots Origins site - http://www.origins.net http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/ http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/ All these above will give you information that will help you. Also you could join the Lanark Rootsweb List for Glasgow. http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/ scroll down to International Click Scotland Click - whatever list you want to subscribe to. Hope this helps a bit. Dear All, Do any of you have any information on Joseph Beedle who married Burke a family from Scotland. They left Scotland. They left Scotland with a lot of others on account of Belgrave Persecution. His first home in America was in Massachusetts. Then in 1816 after the Civil War he moved to Illinois. Any help on this would be appreciated. Sincerely, Becky S. Lindgren-Dyas beckyld@att.net
Could someone tell me where the "Highlands of Scotland" might be located? I have an ancestor WILLIAM SCOTT whose father WILLIAM SCOTT was from the Highland of Scotland? Gene

Dear Listers, I am trying to trace the ancestors of Agnes McDUFF b. 1843 who married James REDFERN in Manchester 3/8/1863. Her father is listed as William McDUFF, joiner. She had a brother, name unknown but possibly also William and they may have been born in Scotland. Does anyone possibly have a suggestion how I might trace her birth record? Bob
Can not find any trace of Oxberry but suggest you try Braithwaites in Yorkshire or Cumbria as people did not tracvel too far in days of yore. Hello Pam: I looked at the LDS site which is below: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp using 'British Isles, all countries' as the region, and found this entry which may be your family. It's a little off in terms of the dates - how old was he in the 1851 census and where was he living at the time of the census. James OXBERRY Sex: M Marriage(s): Spouse: Ellen BRAITHWAITE Marriage: 7 Aug 1862 Saint Mary Bishophill Senior, York, Yorkshire, England Source Information: Batch number: Dates Source Call No. Type Printout Call No. Type M071854 1754-1868 1068535 Film 6903169 Film Sheet: If this is the right one you may be able to track down this marriage record at your nearby local LDS Family History Centre and find out his parents' names, and addresses, depending on what is shown on the English records. Then once you know his parents' names you may be able to trace the birth record of James. You may wish to repost your query giving a little more detail if you have it, and other listers may be able to make other suggestions. Happy hunting. Dear Listers, This is my first message to this list. I have just discovered that my great grandfather, JAMES OXBERRY was apparently born in Scotland about 1850-ish. He puts this as his place of birth in the 1851 census. He later married Ellen BRAITHWAITE of Thirsk. I have no idea whereabouts in Scotland he was born, or the names of his parents. Can anyone give me a lead, please, I would be most grateful. Regards to all, Pam Studd in Essex.
I would appreciate any information on St. Clair's. In particular, Daniel St. Clair b. March 17, 1759. I only know that he was born in Scotland and immigrated to America when he was about 12 years old. Also, any information on the Auchmuty family before relocating to Ireland. Thank you, Linda

Hi there, Don't have any relatives in the Carmichael clan, that I'm aware of, but I thought I should mention that you have a lot of cousins in Prince Edwrad Island, Canada! I live in Stratford, Prince Edwrad Island, Canada and there are several CARMICHAEL families in this part of the province. Perhaps you have already made contact with this branch of the clan but just in case you have not, I would be glad to contact one of the family and attempt to make the connection. You never know? On the other hand the Island Carmichael's might be trying to avoid their cousins in Florida! Ha, Ha. Let me know.
