    1. MACK
    2. Lorraine Pike
    3. Hello, I am new to this list. I am researching the name MACK. According to family lore my g grandfather Matthew MACK is from Manchester, BUT, the only source I have that actually places him there is my grandmother's marriage certificate from 1918. His occupation is listed as Master Hairdresser. So, it would seem to me he was born elsewhere and moved to Manchester at some point. My mother thinks possibly there was a connection to Scotland. I would like to hear from others researching the MACK name. What I know of Matthew MACK is that he was married to Catherine ?? (maybe Britcher) and they had the following children: Catherine MACK (my grandmother) born about 1894 - 1896 (marrried, moved to Canada 1919) Henrietta MACK (married Richard MASON, living in Manchester c. 1938) Lucy MACK (married, living in Manchester c. 1938) Richard MACK (married, living in Manchester, hairdresser(?), c. 1938)

    3. Reposting my interest in the name GLOAG, my maternal grandmother's maiden name. I have traced the name back to Scotland in the mid 1700's before they moved south into Cumberland, Yorkshire and then Hertfordshire. Any help with where the name originated and any links would be much appreciated. Nick Leppard

    3. I have just started to search for my ancestors, and I would be willing to know if anyone is able to let me know if they have any information on JOHN HUNTLEY who worked as a policeman in the Bo'ness area in the 1910-1920s. He married Jane Walker and moved to Chester-Le-St in Durham in the mid-1920's. My mothers birth certificate states that she was born at Furnace Row , Bo'ness in1925 ................I would love to know if Furnace Row is still in existance and if so.......whereabouts is it? I have searched for that address with no luck as yet. Anyone with any links to HUNTLEY in the same region please let me know. Many thanks Jayne Ross

    3. Hello Lynette, I have one that is earlier: McDougal(l) / McDougald, Mary b. Abt. 1819, d. Aft. 1877 mar. SHIELDS, George b. Abt. 1815, d. Bef. 1877 Mary was born in Borrowstouness, West Lothian Co., Scotland. The 1839 marriage banns spell the name as McDougald. The spelling varies in records. Their daughter, Mary B. (Bartam?) SHIELDS (1841-1908) is my g-grandmother through her second marriage to Thomas Peter Cameron FORBES (1852-1914). This couple emigrated to the United States in 1886, bringing my grandfather as a young boy. Mary B. SHIELDS was born in New Monkland, Lanark. I don't as yet have any further information about Mary McDOUGAL, but of course would love to find her parents and siblings, as well as collateral lines. Do you have any information other than b. date? --Noelle, in Ohio, USA At 09:59 AM 4/28/01 +0900, Lynette Parker wrote: >Hi > >ARe there any MacDougalls out there??? 1. John "Jean" Gaston
    2. Russ Perry
    3. Thanks Ken..a good thought, but I can verify the 3 brothers that emigrated to Co. Antrim, Ireland who are "heads" of our family. My curiousity is with John "Jean", the Huguenot and any verification that he did, indeed, flee to Scotland. Now, the 3 brothers may well have had a father other than John "Jean" but that unknown "someone" would have had to have three known, named sons who went to Ireland in the late 1600's. (I base this time of the dates of their births--1645-1650). There is also the question of whether or not John "Jean" emigrated as well to Ireland. In all, it's rather an academic question still unresolved by the historians and genealogists...the point of my query being some verifaction of the existance of John "Jean" in Scotland ca 1630-1645. Thanks for suggestions though...each thought might well provide the breakthrough that has stymied researchers lo these many years. Russ Perry
