My Grandaunt went to Scotland around 1920 and got married to a foreign national, surname Mundy. i believed they lived in a street called Buchlugh Street (or something like that), but I cannot find this now. They had two daughters and he later left them. That is all the information I have on them, no first names I'm afraid. Hi Cheryl, Can anybody look up a census and how do they go about it. I am having no luck in trying to trace relatives in Scotland. They are Mundys in Glasgow, but they are probably married and have different surnames, but a census might at least give me some original address. Don't know about Alexander Reid born ca 1884, but do have some info on a James Richard RICHARDSON, b ca 1880, possibly in Nebraska. His G-grandchildren are my cousins. James Richard married Margaret Ann MURPHY ca 1897 and they had at least four children: John Ray (b ca 1897), Edgar Wilks (b 14 May 1917 in Nebraska), Clayton Leroy (b 2 Aug 1921 in Washington), Edna Jo (b 17 Feb 1928 in Washington). The foregoing information came from the Richardson family Bible and so is probably fairly accurate. Hope this info proves helpful. There was no entry on the IGI for the marriage of Helen Sime and William Murray. That was about all I could check with the amount of info you gave. Do you have a birth year or anything for Helen. Why do you have the surname Guilline in the subject line? Is this another connection? You have to give first names and dates and places. There were thousands of Sime names in the Index. Mary, Yes lots of different spellings. Gellin Guilling Gelline Guillon Gilan Guillone Gilen Guilon Gilene Guilone Gilens Gulain Gilin Gulan Giling Guland Gillan Gulane Gillane Gulean Gillen Gulen Gillene Gulene Gillens Gulian Gillin Gulien Gilline Gulin Gilling Guline Gillon Guling Gillone Gullain Gillun Gullaine Gillune Gullan Gillyn Gulland Gillyne Gullane Gilon Gullans Gilone Gullean Gilyne Gulleen Gualline Gullein Guellen Gullen Guellin Gullens Guilan Gullian Guilane Gullien Guilen Gullin Guilian Gulline Guilin Gulling Guiline Gullon Guiling Gullone Guillan Gullun Guillane Gullyn Guillen Gulon Guillian Gyling Guillin Gylling Guilline These are the ones I'm looking into but not all of them have been found in my actual research (so far). The main problem is that we (my close family) even all say it differently. I say Gull- line, my cousin says Gullen, and my Gran used to say Gillen - just for an example. I have a relative in Canada who pronounces it Gull - leen. So I have had to take into account every possible spelling. Rgds Carrie

Carrie, Have you come across any alternate spellings for this name? like GULLAND or GILLON? My GILLON line also seems to have appeared as GULLAND. Also do you have any additional information, as in dates, occupations, etc? Mary Searles

Hello listers, I am re-posting a request some of you may have already seen, but which did not go out to all mailing lists so I am sending again. I am trying to find any information on John HUNTLEY who lived in Durham (DUR) and also in Bo'ness West Lothian (WLT) for a while. He married Jane WALKER on 4th Jan 1908 in Durham. He worked as a coal miner at Kinneil Colliery in Bo'ness WLT Scotland around 1925 but moved back to Co.Durham in 1926. The family settled in the Chester-Le-Street area. There is some information that leads me to believe that John HUNTLEY went on to become a policeman after moving back to Co.Durham. 8 Children have been mentioned by various members of my family, but I only have the names Violet, Margaret (born 21st June 1925 in Bo'ness) and Elizabeth confirmed so far, the rest are just rumoured! I have neither a date of birth or death for John nor Jane, and would be interested if anyone has any information, or has any reference material they could search for me. Many thanks AJR
Hi there I have been tracing my family surname for a year now but have a few bits and pieces which I just can't tie up. Most of my ancestors come from Wigtown/Wigtownshire areas but the odd one or two have strayed across both big seas. I am hoping with your help maybe you can guide me in the right direction with the South West of Scotland part. Thank you Carrie carrie@gulline.freeserve.co.uk Carrie
Hi Barbara and others, I notice that one of the names you are reseaching is LEDINGHAM. Although I have no connection to this name, I have noticed it recently in the place I volunteer at. I have looked for it in our telephone book and there is 6 listed (not like mine) out of a population of 330,000. If you think you may have a connection and I can make some phone calls for you, let me know. (p.s. where are you) Regards, Malcolm Campbell (London,Ontario,Canada) BjSleeper@cs.com wrote: LEDINGHAM and REID are mine. Would sks be able to carry out a look up for me in one of the many Surname Dictionaries, for the origin and any other details of the name GLOAG, my maternal grandmother's maiden name. Many thanks in anticipation Nick Leppard
