You don't really have to have the SS5 form to obtain information from the Social Security Administration. You can just write a letter providing the information regarding the person you are asking about and the Social Security Administration will accept your letter in lieu of the SS5 form. Jan

Hi Ann, No, you're not a nuisance! We all learn together, or in different levels.. I'll send you the page that I have on all the Margaret Sime's (it's the first one) and click on to the right, and it will give you the page with the 'application'. Print it out and you need to send $7 with the application and you'll get it in about 60 days. If you have any problems, please don't hesitate to ask. Good luck, Debbye -----Original Message----- From: Dunlopabm@aol.com <Dunlopabm@aol.com> To: WGW-SURNAMES-SCOTLAND-L@rootsweb.com <WGW-SURNAMES-SCOTLAND-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Thursday, May 17, 2001 2:16 PM Subject: SS5 letter Debbye Could you please tell me, how do I find an SS5 letter, I went into the social Security Death Index and saw Margaret Sime's name, but could not see a letter to print, sorry if I am a nuisance :o) still learning as I go along.!! regards Ann

HI Cheryl, Thanks for your email. Maybe our Brasher was once Brash. Would love to know. BTW, my g-grandfather MALLORY was from Blehheim, Ontario, Canada. Wish I could find them too! Happy researching, Cyndie Brasher Guntersville, Alabama, USA
Hi Elaine I found out Helen's parents names yesterday by phone! I had tried to find her headstone with no luck, decided to phone the cemetery department, and a kind lady there came up with my ggrandparents names, I was so taken aback that I did not ask if their own parents were buried there. But at least I have more dates to go on, plus more names. Archibald Sime 1861-1930 (died at Coylton, Ayrshire) Jane Sime 1862-1924 (died also Coylton?) and their daughter Helen 1894-1920. There is another daughter I am sure of who emigrated to the states and died around the late 1950's early 1960's, Margaret (Maggie) Sime, maybe someone reading this has more info, you never know. :o) regards Ann
I dont know who has been doing what or who hasnt. But below is the addy for unsubscribing from the the list. You cant just send a msg to the list it's self and get unsubscribed. You must send the request to the below addy. Hope this is of some help. Stan Riddle-Brookshier WGW-SURNAMES-SCOTLAND-L-request@rootsweb.com
If you have ever made any changes, such as your username, the software won't recognize that you are the same person, and it won't unsubscribe you.You have to get the listowner to do that manually in that case. ----- Original Message ----- From: "RLBailey" <RLBailey@Telusplanet.net> To: <WGW-SURNAMES-SCOTLAND-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 16, 2001 9:00 PM Subject: Re: Gulline > Don't be too sure Beryl, I have unsubscribed a couple of times and just keep > getting told I was never on the list so CAN'T unsubscribe - I keep doing > alot of deleting until someone figures it out > > . > rlbailey@telusplanet.net ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Beryl Graham" <b.d.graham@sympatico.ca> > To: <WGW-SURNAMES-SCOTLAND-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Tuesday, May 16, 2000 10:45 AM > Subject: Re: Gulline > > > > I'm a little confused here. Barbara, Thanks I have subscribed but haven't sent them this message - I will do. Thank you Carrie
Hi Ann, Sorry to intrude on the conversation, but have you tried getting Helen's death certificate? It should list her parents names on it. You probably wouldn't find anything on the IGI because most of their listings stop around 1890 probably even earlier. You need another source to find her parents names. The death certificate or even marriage certificate would have both. Do you know where they died? Good luck! Elaine

Hi Beryl, Thanks for the info on New Register House and book on Scottish ancestry. No, unfortunately I cannot make it to Scotland right now however, I was in Edinburgh in '97 and walked the Princess St. you mention. Wish I knew then what I do now about tracing genealogy roots. There we were in Scotland (on our own, trying to drive on the wrong side of the road in a stick-shift gear car with the driver also on the opposite side of the car) and all we had to go by was "Our ggg-grandfather's name was Henry MCKINNEY (b1745) and we're trying to find out anything we can", hee hee hee. Oh well, a lesson learned. Next time I will be more prepared. I will read the book you recommend. Again thanks and happy researching. Hi Cheryl in Ontario, I was just reading your McKenzie-Simons message and noticed your last name, BRASH. Do you know anything about the BRASH surname? Could it have originally been BRASHER? My married name is BRASHER and from the research I've done on the Brasher line, which hasn't been a lot so far, tells me they were from France or the French/German area, around Alsace-Lorraine, France. Any knowledge of its background? Good luck on your search for McKenzie :) Cyndie MCKINNEY Brasher Guntersville, Alabama, USA rbrasher@hiwaay.net > -----Original Message----- > From: Cheryl Brash [mailto:mackenzi@csolve.net] > Sent: Tuesday, May 15, 2001 1:01 PM > To: WGW-SURNAMES-SCOTLAND-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: McKenzie - Simons > > > > > > > > > I'm looking for Duncan McKenzie and Sarah Jane Simons > married in 1888. > > > I was wondering if SKS could do a 1891 censes look up > for these 2 people > > > somewhere around the Dundee area... > > > > > > Thank's very much > > > > > > Cheryl Brash > > > Port McNicoll, Ontario, CANADA > > > mackenzi@csolve.net > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
