Hi there everyone I'm Ruby Moon and I live in Australia. It is bright and sunny today. Our temperatures at the moment are in the mid to high 30 degree mark. I don't know how I got onto this list but here goes. If anyone can help I'll be grateful The names I am researching are these: Crichton - James a flourmiller. I don't know where his family came from Erskine - Charlotte born around the mid 1800's and Isabella Erskine, her mother Harkness - John born 1st March 1985 Irons - Elizabeth and her parents. She was born c 1778 Kidd - Janet married James Crichton 1809 (I think) Moon - Alexander, a blacksmith, born 1773 and his parents Rennie - Janet. She married William Russell. Son's name James Rennie Russell born 1862 Russell - William, son James Turpin -Mary Anne married William Jamison Does anyone know? Is Cheeseman mainly an English name? Regards Ruby

Hello All !! <A HREF="http://www.familysearch.org/Search/ancestorsearchresults.asp"> Family Search</A> www.familysearch.org/Search/ancestorsearchresults.asp I think you might find this website very interesting.Use as little info as possible, like a last name, first and last name, maybe a wifes name,an aproximate date within 20 years, pick the country you want or you can search all countries. If you find anyone familiar, click on the name. Look for the batch number and pin. Call a Mormon Church around your area if you have one, tell them your looking for the disc. Almost all Mormon Churches carry the disc's, if they dont have the disc'c they know who do. You can view them there," I believe" most will even burn you a copy to purchase. The Mormon Churches here you can even rent them out like movies. You can also order them through the website. They are genealogy tree's, all over the world "Thousands". They use resources the Genealogical Index-British Isles to name one. Peace !! Jeff McComb-Southern Cali-Clan MacThomas Society Member -ROOTSWEB # 1

THE PHK !!! The PHK is a book written by PHK McComb(Peter Hathaway Kemper McComb) and Virginia McComb between c.1912-1942. My grandfathers generation is the last to be listed.(1920's) It has a descendency line all the way back too John McComy Mor and wife Janet Rattray given Charter at Abotshall, about 1568 . It says that Thomas, fifth son of Ian Mor, OR Thomas, son of William, grandson of Donald, son of Iain Mor of Forter, migrated through Antrim Ireland before 1732 with 2 sons, registered as Bl---k(2) McComb. He had 4 sons total. James,John,William and Robert. I am a descendent of Robert. Bl---k(2) had one brother, ? McCombie, who had one son John taking the name Macomb. John Macomb had two sons and one daughter. He came to America in about 1755 with his wife Jane Gordon and their 3 children.Alexander,William and Ann. They had resided in Dunturkey,Ballynure,Antrim County, Ireland from1685-1755. Cousins to the McCombs (Bl---k)(2) that came earlier. The PHK also states this perticular Thomas who is registered as "Bl---K(2) McComb" and his brother "? McCombie," their father is known as "William" and grandfather "Sir Thomas." What "Sir Thomas" it is referring to I dont think anyone knows. Im not sure if Donald would have been old enough to be a grandfather at that time.(1685). That only leaves Thomas the 9th chief. The McComb book states that his parents were John McCombie and Elspet Campbell of Forter, "BUT" there were other John McCombies and Elspet Campbell's as well which I have marriage records of all (Ancestry.com)if they are accurate. There were about 70+ or so Elspet Campbell's, about the right time(1685) a few married to a John McComie(bie), one being (Ian Mor) John McComie of Forter. (I must keep that in mind). Also he has used many different names, besides the Gailic versions like Iain Mor, hes often shown as John Macintosh, John McComie, John McCombie, John McComy Mor and a few others. I'm sure all the men had a few spellings back then. Spelling wasn't one of their biggest concerns. In the PHK, if you look at Alexander, "Iain Mor's father",the 7th chief, his other name is also Bl---k(1). That might add to the conclusion. Bl---k(2) McComb (my chain) came to America through Delaware, Maryland before 1732 with a few of his sons. After some more shipments came (cousins etc)we then spread out, one place being McCombs Fort.(Penn,New York, Virginia) First there were Indians, then the Revolutionary War, then the Indians again, then the Civil War, then the Indians again. They were true Pilgrims! Some going into early Congressional and other early government military positions I sent along a link to a partial copy of the PHK and the Gustin book, along with 7 other Macomb files so you can check it out. It is in no way a full copy of the PHK but it still has some jewels. "The Ancestry of John S. Gustin" is also great. You will need Acrobat Reader or Word to read them. I dont think my friend will mind. There is also more updated info after these files. This website belongs too my friend Murray McCombs. <A HREF="http://www.interlog.com/~mmccombs/McCPDF/McCPDF.html">McComb PDF </A> <---AOL users http://www.interlog.com/~mmccombs/McCPDF/McCPDF.html The PHK has never been proven, actually proven. Its credability is being challenged by myself and some others. The meat of the argument is the arrival dates into America. An early US Census about 1735, shows them about 40 heads or so. From that point it seems accurate. When they arrived and prior to the arrivals, which it states the Chieftains family is also questionable. Its main objective is too inspire further search on the McComb surname, wich can be from from several different clans. MacKintosh/McColm/McComb-MacKintosh/MacThomas/McComb(bie)-MacAllum/Malcolm/McC omb and a few others I believe. Any more please correct me. Campbell and Gunn are possibilities I have read somewhere as well " I believe". Any leads in my direction please send my way. Nothing is trying to be proven by this register. Hopefully the validity of it can still proven through further search. Jeff McComb- Southern California - Clan MacThomas Society Member
Thought my HELEN NELSON ROBERTSON( my husband's grandmother) was born May 19, 1903. SKS looked up in Scottish Records office and there are no HELEN ROBERTSON's born on that date! But they do have possible connection: HELEN ROBERTSON born Dec. 31, 1902 (Could other date be her baptism as I've read that is sometimes listed as a birthdate?) Her parents are listed as WILLIAM ROBERTSON & JANE SMITH. WIlliam's parents are listed as WILLIAM ROBERTSON & CATHERNE MARTIN. Jane's parents are listed as THOMAS SMITH & MARGARET GRACIE. Also ROBINA GRACIE was in same area. Father unknown and mother is SARAH GRACIE. (This could be the Ruby or Roby in a picture I have.) Margaret Gracie died 1925. Can anyone connect with this family? Please contact me. Cindy Elschide Northwest Indiana USA
Hello, I'm new to this list. I am looking for info on my GG Grandfather, Joseph CAMPBELL Born 24 May 1863/4 in Scotland. He immigrated to Canada in 1889 ( as per the 1901 Canadian census). That is the only information I have. Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Carol Campbell Wyatt
I am trying to find out more about my Rusk ancestors that moved from Scotland to Northern Ireland. All I know is that they came to America around 1850 and settled in Washington,D.C. Is there anyone researching this name that might be able to help me. Thanks Margie
I am looking for information on either of the above 2 people. If you have them in your research and wish to contact me, please do so OFF the list. Here are the details I know: William ROBERTSON married Mary GRAHAM (no dates know of birth, death or marriage at this stage). William and Mary were my GGGG Grandparents. They had one child that I know of (but there were probably others). The child is my GGG Grandmother, Jessie ROBERTSON (could also be know as Janet). She was born approx 1843 - 1845 and married Peter CRERAR on 30th July 1867 in Glasgow. I have information on the descendants of Peter and Jessie and would be happy to share it with anyone who is interested. Cheers - Ian. Prahran, Vic, Australia (formerly from NSW)
Betsy (baptized Betty) SUTHERLAND of Kildonan, Sutherlandshire married John GREY (or GRAY) in Scotland about 1832. This couple emigrated to Canada soon after. Has anyone found GREY or GRAY families in the Helmsdale or Kildonan areas in this time period? - Frances in Canada
I am hoping to find someone whose McKINNON family includes Angus John McKINNON born about 1837 somewhere in Scotland. My great-grandfather Angus John married Mary Adelaide HARVIE in Hants County, Nova Scotia, Canada about 1860 or later. He died between the 1881 and 1891 Canadian censuses. His widow and offspring were in Truro, Colchester County, Nova Scotia by 1891. Best wishes to all from Frances in Canada PS - Can anyone tell me when this list was formed and why? For instance, I searched the archives but had no luck finding what "WGW" stands for.
Hello everyone hope you all had nice Holidays. I am searching for others researching Robertsons possibly around Fife area. My husband's grandmother born in Scotland, May 19,1903. Her name is Helen Nelson Robertson. She bought her ticket to USA in Glasgow. She arrived at Sault Ste. Marie Sept 1, 1923, then crossed over to USA. Her last residence in Scotland was Cowdenbeath. Her parents could be a Bill & ? Grace Robertson. She probably has a female relative with Nelson maiden name. Grace has 3 other relatives with Grace in their names. One is also named Ruby, such as Ruby Grace or Grace Ruby. Unknown surname so if anyone has 4 Graces in their family tree, who according to pictures, their ages may be anywhere from 35 to 70 probably around 1923. The pictures we have are probably ones Helen took of her family, who came to see her off to USA. She may also have brothers or nephews named Billy and Ian. Pictures show both with a soccer/rugby ball in a feild. On backs they say."Billy, Britains Hope", and "His Lordship, Ian". Thanks in advance Cindy Northwest Indiana
I am searching for any information on JAMES GRAHAM and JESSICA PITCAIRN BAIRD who are listed as the parents of John Robert Baird Graham, born August 23, 1888. On John Robert's birth certificate is the date of his parent's marriage, June 3, 1884. I was told that John had a brother that died in the first world war, and a sister who moved to Australia (no names) Any informatiion would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings: I have been having a lot of trouble with my Burnett line from New York State. I have a several page list of names for 10 Generations. The 11th generation would be my GGgrandmother and I can pretty much prove out generations 10,9 and some of 8 -- but beyond that I can find no one on this list. ANY help would be greatly appreciated! This is some of what this paper has to say --- I have no idea who compiled it!. Generation 1: George Alexander Bournet b. 1550 married Elset MacKelt 1578 NE of Glasgow, Scotland. they had 11 children. Generation 2; Jalone MacKelt Bournet b 1582 married Hepzah Fitzhugh in 1602. After she died Jalone and son James Surrey b. 1607 came to America with Fitzhugh uncle in 1622. Generation 3: James S. Burnet married Reta Greene they had 16 children - one was named Jeremiah who married Ruth Shipley and moved to virginia. My line is Samuel Generation 4: Samuel T.Burnet b. 1635 (says wife is Mary Pearson but I believe this is wrong) had 8 children Generation 5. Jonathan b. 1668 married Esther Babodie (maybe Pabodie) They had 7 children: Daniel, Margot, Jacob, Mary, George, James, Charles Generation 6: James Burnet b.1695 married Annaheld Dennelse 1719 They had 7 children: Margaret, George C. William, Josiah, Peter, John, Edward. Generation 7: Josiah William Burnet b 1726 married Sarah Clark Young They had 6-10 children - my line being David George Generation 8:George or David George Burnett b. 1759 married Maria Schurtz and I believe lived in Green County, NY and then Dutchess County. They had John Isaac, Isaac, Maria and Josiah William. Generation 9 - Josiah W.b. 1799 married Alida Sipperly and had 7 children most of whom seem to have remained in Dutchess County. - Rhinebeck area. MY LINE - Isaac b. 1802 married Catharine Cole and moved to Ulster County. Their children were Isaac, John, Martha, Sophia, and Catherine. Generation 10 - my line Isaac, b. 1839 married Sarah Miller. Can anyone help me prove this long list or steer me in the right direction? Do any of these name sound familiar to anyone?????? Thank you for any help you can give me.
