Thanks Cara. You sent me that info many months ago. When I received his son's birth certificate it confirmed that he was a SAYLOR [as printed on birth record]. In the 1901 census it shows him as being a farmer. I can only presume that he retired from the Merchant Navy and bought a farm in Kitestown or perhaps managing the farm for someone.
