the Old church of Screen was situated in the townland of Ballyhubbock. Scrin Mhaolruain was a shrine dedicated to St Maolruain of Tallaght Stolen in 1981 was the remarkable artifact associated with Screen which was the 14th century carved oak statue of a saint ( never recovered) The present church at Screen is dedicated to St Cyprian, whose feast day is 16th September Built in the time of Rev Sylvester Cloney parish priest from 1889-1908 and the church was designed by J Kelly Freeman of 67 Eccles Street Dublin. Externally the walls are plastered and painted, but there are granite quoins, buttresses and dressings, with a distinctive porch and belfry surmounts the entrance gable. Windows are romanesque with a three-light window in the sanctuary depicting the Calvary scene. There is a commemorative marble wall tablet to Rev Mathias Brennan C.C. who died 21/5/1871 aged 35 years, a brass tablet in memory of Rev Patrick Parker C.C. died 5th Feb 1882 aged 53 years. Others buried in the outside church yard are Father John Cullen ( 1953) Father Boggan and Father Frank Barron ( 1995) Cheers Cara
