Hi Marilyn, I have found several DOYLE/REDMOND couples with children registered in the Wexford region - one at the same Townland as mine! - Monagrena - and one at a possible nearby Townland - Harrow .Other Townlands mentioned are ' Carrigeen; Clone and Tobergal; all of them appear to be in the same region as my Townlands - my main one is Ballytracey. However none of the births had a Bridget Redmond as mother, neither can I find Margaret or Mary's births for the years you gave. However, that doesn't mean they are not correct, it's just that they are not on this particular list I have, which I think is of R.C. registations in the area. I am not sure where I this list came from as it was emailed to me a couple of years ago by a friend, though I think it may be something to do with Griffiths Valuations. Tina
Hi Tina: Thanks for the information...now I at least have an area to research from. The only other fact I know about John and Bridget Doyle is that they were married in Wexford in 1833. Maybe that will be of some help in tracing them, or other children they may have had. I only know about ggrandmother Margaret, as she married ggrandfather James Shanahan (also county unknown) in Chicago, Ill. Since she died young, her children were raised by her sister, Mary who also lived in Chicago. This is the only piece of information that I have right now. But thanking you, and hopefully we can find a connection somewhere down the line. Good luck. Now if you work on the basis of the naming pattern and he follows his father as a John Doyle, there are 136 John Doyle's as head of household listed in Griffiths' Valuation of Wexford between 1848 - 1864. I could give you every one of the Heads of household in Griffiths', but unless we can identify an area you could be looking forever and it could cost you a fortune in getting someone to do a lookup for you. Now you say "The only other fact I know about John and Bridget Doyle is that they were married in Wexford in 1833". To us here in Co.Wexford, we would take this to mean that they were actually married in the vicinity of Wexford Town! If this was the case? The odds are shortened, to there being only 15 John Doyle's as HOH in Wexford Town area for this same period (given we had the same conditions of the naming pattern as above) and subject also to the fact his father was alive and kicking at the time of Griffiths' being taken. The margin of error otherwise is too great to make wild guesses and greatly affects any research expenses. I'm sure Tina that you also meant either Monagear or Monagreany? slan Cyril Newsome Loch Garman. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marilyn Shanahan" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, March 19, 2006 5:47 PM Subject: Re: [WEX] Doyle > Hi Tina: > Thanks for the information...now I at least have an area to research from. > The only other fact I know about John and Bridget Doyle is that they were > married in Wexford in 1833.
