Marilyn at [email protected] writes: "What is Enniscorthy called, in relation to Ballprecas, or are they not involved with each other at all?" Marilyn, Better known as the Townland of "Ballypracus" (note the spelling), is located about a mile outside of Bunclody (also known as Newtownbarry) on the Kiltealy road. Ballypracus is just that, a Townland. Bunclody itself is a Town, with it's own RC Parish of Holy Trinity, no doubt the records for here are held on film in the Wexford Library, I have never had need to look them up to be honest. Enniscorthy is a Town also, (some people refer to it as a City) and really the only connection with Ballypracus (Ballyprecas as you call it) is the fact that it (Ballypracus), falls within the Enniscorthy PLU. The Parish records for Newtownbarry (or Bunclody) which will include those of Ballypracus are as follows: Baptisms from: 1834-Nov.1st. 1851, April 26th. 1857-Dec.29th 1880. Marriages from: May 20th. 1834-June 29th. 1880 Burials for: 1834, 1857-58 and 1872-73. The Anglican (COI) Church, is that of St. Mary (Records of births deaths and marriages are recorded from 1799 in Bunclody Parish). slan Cyril Newsome Loch Garman ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, December 19, 2005 12:22 AM Subject: Re: [WEX] Re: SHANAHAN in Wexford > Marilyn at [email protected] writes: > > > What is Enniscorthy called, in relation to Ballprecas, or are they not > involved with each other at all? < > > Marilyn, > > There's really no connection - they're at least 10 miles apart. Thank you for the explanation, Cyril and Pete. It is clearer to me now, and I will pursue it.
