Can I just add a personal note to this one. It was probably my certificates that Cyril is speaking about as he so kindly responded to my original plea regarding my grandmother Mary Ann Connor of Ballycanew. I put out a general email requesting any information on this family as I had got absolutely nowhere in trying to find my grandmothers birth in the Civil Registration. In just over an hour after my email appearing on this mailing list Cyril had come back to me with the full details of my grandmothers birth registration - information which I had spent nine years trying to find. I could not believe that someone would go out of their way to help me. Cyril has now obtained for me not only my grandmothers birth certificate but also that of her sister which is so kindly also looked up for me.
