I have been intersested in the names of the men who died at the battle of Oulart Hill in 1798. My ancestor's name is SOMERS, and that is one of the names inscribed on one of the rocks leading up the pathway. I have often wondered how these men were remembered. Was it just word of mouth? I would be grateful for any information whatsoever about the source(s). My relationship to this man is to some extent supposition, but, given the baptism and marriage facts of the family at about the time in question, my ancestor certainly fits the bill.
