    2. Hello -can you please advise me how I can find out where my gt grandmother was born. I know it is in County Wexford. Her name was Catherine Maher born 1852 (from the 1901 census) Her father was John Maher.I am absolutely stuck. She was living in Liverpool in 1872. Where would I have to go if I went to Wexford? Hope you do not mind but you sound so knowledgeable about Ireland. Regards Ann In a message dated 10/04/2009 01:28:11 GMT Daylight Time, virsal@webtv.net writes: I wish I could go also. While you are looking if you see anything bout Garret Cavanaugh and Mary Kelly, I would appreciate if you would copy. I will be happy to pay you. They were married about 1843 and lived in New Ross. So if you see a page of interest you can print it out as you are viewing the page. It cost .10 cents a page if memory serves me right. 3. Hello Ann - do you have Catherine in the 1871 census? She appears to be in Liverpool, where you say she was the next year. There are several John MAHERs in the Griffiths Valuation for Wexford - you might like to take a look: http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths.php or http://griffiths.askaboutireland.ie/gv4/gv_start.php The valuations were done between 1847-1864 from memory. This might give you a few parishes to think about. Also, next door to the STITTs in 1881 is an Edward MAHER 22 born in Liverpool. In 1871 this Edward appears to have parents John and Elizabeth, both born in Ireland and the right age. And in 1861 the family is in St Martin, Liverpool complete with a Catherineof the right age. If you don't already have Catherine's mother's name you might try getting the birth certificate for Edward (registered Liverpool 1857) which should give that. It could make searching in Ireland easier if you have both names. In addition - if you don't already have it, you can find Catherine in the 1911 census (indexed as Cathrine if this is the right one) and if you are able to view the original page it just may have a fuller reference to her place of birth. Hope this gives you a start - apologies if you have this already. 3. Hi Patricia. I've been meaning to ask this for two weeks now. Regarding your name, O'Shea...have you researched the name in Wexford, and would you have any connection to the Breens of Wexford? My maternal g.father, John Shea, had a sister, Annie, who married Patrick Breen in Wexford c.1880s. Right now I'm trying to go through Griffiths to find townlands where both names are mentioned, but it's a daunting task. Any info you might have would be appreciated.
