Joan, is there any chance that your Quinns are connected to my Quinns (who lived in Baldwinstown, Rathangan Parish in the 1840s)? Is Margaret Hawkíns' book fiction, or historical non-fiction? Murphys, Redmonds, Laceys, McCrearys I see a lot of references to Doyles, Murphys and Redmonds - as well as Kavanaughs lately. Does anyone related to those names as well as Lacey and McCreary have someone coming to Philadelphia, PA and Queens, NY? My grandmother, Nellie McCreary, came to Philadelphia with her cousins John Doyle and Mary & Annie Murphy in the late 1800s. She also was related to the Redmonds and Laceys of Queens. She lived with her aunt Margaret Cavenaugh (Kavenaugh) and her cousin Walter Lacey in Philadelphia- all from Wexford. Many of her siblings and cousins came to both Philadelphia and Queens and went back to Wexford. Some stayed , some just visited. Nellie eventually married in Philadelphia, moved to Queens and then moved to White Plains in Westchester County. It seems she was related to many Doyles, Murphys and Redmonds. I am looking for a marriage of Bridget Murphy to a Richard Harding sometime around 186-1820. My Genealogy states they were from Ireland and immigrated to Port Hood Nova Scotia around the early 1820's. It states they came from Ireland, I am guessing it was somewhere in Wexford County. They were Roman Catholic. I am against a brick wall, as I cannot find either Bridget or Richard in Ireland. I have Bridget's birth around 1797 and Richard around 1778. Can anyone help me? It seems based on fact but embellished by fiction. Easy read and gives a look at Wexford at the time. I got a copy used on Amazon for $4.00. As for my Quinns I think are just a little north of yours but not sure of exact location maybe Clongeen or Newbawn. I am waiting for a birth cert so may know more then. Thomas Quinn went to Baltimore abt 1894, followed by Mary 1899 and alone at the age of 11 (must be a story there). She returned to Wexford abt 1904 and returned with a James Quinn in 1904. Thomas may have also returned as I only find him in the 1900 census. I cannot find James in the 1901 for Wexford so not sure of exact location. They all went to MD to live with Aunt Johanna McDonnell/McDonald and her husband Ambrose who both left Ireland abt 1881.
