    1. [WEXFORD] CUSHING/WHELAN
    2. Michael J. O'Brien
    3. My gg-grandfather was Thomas Cushing from Cool, County Wexford. I don't have his wife's name. They had the following children: Catherine, Laurence, Edward (my great-grandfather) and Mary. Mary married Thomas Sullivan. Laurence married and had a daughter Anna who married a Capt. Colfax, and English Army Officer. My g-grandfather Edward married Mary Whelan. Mary Whelan's father was Thomas Whelan;her mother was Thomas' first wife. Thomas was married three times; his third wife was a Stafford. Thomas and his first wife had the following children: Joseph Whalen, married Ellen Stafford; John; Mary (my great-grandmother who married Edward Cushing above. Thomas and his second wife (unknown) had a son William. Thomas and his third wife (Stafford) had 2 children: Capt James Whelan who married Margaret Murphy; and a son, name unknown. >From above g-grandfather Edward Cushing (d. 1903 in Wexford; a stone-mason and builder) and Mary Whalen my g-grandmother were the parents of my grandfather Thomas Cushing. Thomas had a sister Joanna (b. April 7, 1867), and a brother Laurence (b. August 6, 1869). Brother and sister died young near Ramsgrange. When he was baptized my grandfather Thomas Cushing (son of Edward Cushing and Mary Whelan)his godfather was Paul Kehoe of Strokestown, County Roscommon and his god-mother was Mrs. James O'Neil (nee Mary Brine) of Campile, County Wexford. I don't have much data to substantiate the information above. Any help locating information for Thomas Cushing my gg-grandfather and Thomas Whelan would be helpful. I have contacted a number of churches in the Ramsgrange and Horeswood area and have obtained only baptisimal certificates for Joanna and Laurence Cushing the children of Edward Cushing and Mary Whelan. If you can assist me I would greatly appreciate any help in filling in the blanks.
