Can anyone tell me please how I can find where Catherine Clinch age 86 of Baylands Ferns who died December 23 1920 and her husband Thomas age 83 who died December 27 1920 - (within 4days of each other) are likely to be buried? Both their deaths were registered by a Michael Redmond who was also present at their deaths at Baylands. Does anyone know of him or his descendants please. They were both members of St. Aidans Roman Catholic church where they had been married and all their 8 children were baptised. Any help gratefully accepted. Shelagh O'Neill.
Hi Shelagh, there are 4-5 cemeteries in the Ferns Parish: Ferns itself St. Aidans Old Church Cemetery Clologue Ballyduff The Old 1798 Cemetery 3 miles out of Ferns on the Carnew road. It's more than possible that the Michael Redmond you mention was no relative at all, but the attending Doctor in both cases, as we have the doctor come to the houses be it at the point of death or shortly afterwards in the home, for certification purposes. Hospital deaths are certified of course by the attending Doctor in the hospital.
