    3. John, thanks for all this info about ships leaving Ireland. My husband's ggg grandfather, Bartholomew Connors from Kiltilly, Co.Wexford, arrived in Cape Breton in 1816 and took out a land grant at Low Point, Cape Breton November 23, 1918. I have always wondered what port he would have sailed out of and where he would have landed. It is very possible that he landed in Cape Breton like you have stated, rather than Pictou. It would be wonderful to have passenger lists, but it was too early in the emigration period. I notice that you are searching Doyle's. My husband has a g grandmother, Mary Ann Doyle, born 1841 who married a William Heffernan, daughter of Garret Doyle and Ellen Brewer; and gg grandparents Michael Doyle and Mary Fitzgerald. Michael was suppose to have been born in Co.Wexford, place unknown. Thanks again John. 3. I think my great grandfather, Michael Nolan, was from Ballycrystal, Kiltealy, Co.Wexford. I have documentation that he left there on 8/19/1853, went to London and sailed from Liverpool three days later, 8/22/1853. on the ship Arabia. He arrived in New York on Oct. 1 of that year. I don't think there would've been time for him to get down to Cork, but am not sure how far the port is. 3. Hi Jim: Just to follow up on the Doyle's. The Doyle's I have been researching are mainly in the Isle Madame/Margaree areas. There are approx 8 families of brothers, sisters and cousins who arrived from Ireland 1819 to 1830. A number of these families inter-married as well, which is evidenced in the dispensations found in marital /church records. Your Doyle ancestors lived in the Ingonish area and seemed to stay in that region (presumably because of the high lands). I took a fairly quick look but I don't see an affiliation with the other Doyle's or their associated families. If you would like any additional info just let me know. Mine is still a work in progress.
