    3. Thanks so much Terry for your input. When I cross referenced I came up with the same thing: Tomona and Templeshanbo. Hopefully I'll hear from Cara soon and she will confirm so I can send for the film. I appreciate everyone's help so very much. I'm a little late with this, so you may already have found, or been given (off-List) this information, but just in case, are you familiar with Griffith's Valuation of Ireland? If not, I'll enclose the two websites that I use. There's a John Doran in the townland of Tomona, parish of Templeshanbo, and also an entry in the same townland for a Patrick SCALLAN. I only did a cursory look, so there could be other matches, or the two families could have lived in adjoining townlands, but at least it may be a start for you. Off the top of my head, I think Richard Griffith did Co. Wexford in the early 1850s, which would fit the timeframe for your people. I can't find Cara's source for the marriage of John Doran and Mary Scallen, but knowing the wonderful help that Cara gives, I would bet they're yours. Only the spelling of Scallan is different, which appears to be the only spelling of the surname I can find in Griffith's. The two websites I use are: http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths.php and http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/ this will show you the original pages and also maps. If you have trouble accessing these sites, let me know.
