I have just begun to work on a Hogan line. Dennis Hogan's obit says he was born in Wexford Cty in 1833. He immigrated to St. Louis MO sometime before 1859. Married Mary Delargy before or after immigrating and had 9 children with her: Edward, Dennis, catharine, Jams, Charlie, William, Mary/Mamie, Michael Jennie. He died in 1882. I am trying to nail the village/townland he was from in Wexford Cty. so that I can further research this line. Any crumbs would be most appreciated. You can email me directly at judywendt67@comcast.net Sincerely, Judy Wendt
Hello, Judy! Does the obit say that Dennis Hogan was born in Wexford County? (I suspect County is what you mean by "Cty") If the obit says county, then he could have come from anywhere in the County, and it is important not to concentrate your attention too much in Wexford Town. Good luck! No matter where he was born in Wexford County, his birthplace is a beautiful place. Wexford is one of the best parts of Ireland. Well if he was born in Wexford City you have his place of birth that is where his family would have lived, and he would have been baptised in the Church in Wexford City itself whether it was Church of Ireland -Catholic or what that will be where you will begin your search. Now if you mean Wexford County he could have been born in many different parishes and for you to base your search on the quantity of Hogans within that area, may prove to be a very costly exercise in finding his townland. It appears you do not have his parents names, and are seeking them, do you know if he was the eldest, youngest son of his parents, did he emmigrate alone or with parents - but as per your request after 1864-1875 This is where the Hogans names can be located that I know of and I dont know them all 1- Wexford City 5 families 2- New Ross - 2 families 3-Tagmon -2 families 4-Ferns 1 family 5-Enniscorthy-4 families 6-Bannow -1 Family 7-Oulart -1 family 8-Arthurstown-Fethard - 2 families 9-Camolin- 3 families but this has the additive of one of the Hogan parents being a Daniel if they used any old naming patterns 10-Clonroche-1 11-Killan 2 12-Newtownbarry - 1 13-Gorey-1 14-Old Ross 1 Marriages I have Daniel Hogan married to Eliza Mills in Gorey 19/1/1847 father Daniel FHL 101287 and Henry Hogan married to Eliza Fallen st Patricks Wexford 4/1/1852 His father Patrick and hers Joseph FHL 101341 My own research takes me into the Hogan family of Camolin also but not clear enough tto say if your family connects Cheers Cara This is where Hogan names were found - Wexford City ----- Original Message ----- From: "judith wendt" <judywendt67@comcast.net> To: <WEXFORD@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 08, 2010 12:51 PM Subject: [WEXFORD] Where are the most Hogans in Wexford >I have just begun to work on a Hogan line.
