Since I have just subscribed to this list I am following the directions and saying hello & letting everyone know my surnames. I haven't been do genealogy for very long and I just received some information from aunt. My ggggrandparents were Lawrence J DORAN b 9/29/1837 d 7/30/1913 and Ellen McALLISTER (sometimes Collister) b 5/27/1836 d 10/25/1903. They were born & married in County Wexford, Ireland. Or so it says. They had 10 children of which only one was born in Ireland and his name was John. The other children's names were Lawrence, James, Mary, Anne, Ellen, Elizabeth, William, Katherine, & Margaret. There was a Doran fact & fiction page from I don't know where saying that they had to leave either MN or WI because the "Connels were coming". This individual said the Connels were Irish Hang-men. Is this a general name or was this someone's family name? I would like to find out a little more about this if anyone has ever heard this before. I don't know how you go about proving the information and finding out who their parents are to back any further. I'm a little overwhelmed at the moment so I'm not exactly sure what I am looking for from this list but I thought that I would subscribe and she what is posted and it might give me a clue to what I want to know and what I can learn from this list. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tammy
