My name is steve nolan, i am trying to trace details of my grandfather, and his parents and family, for myself and my father . My grandfather when alive said little or nothing about his background, and my father (his son) felt that he may have been the blacksheep of the family. The information that i have pieced together is :- JOHN JOSEPH NOLAN was born in wexford in 1887/8, one of a large family. his father's name was EDWARD NOLAN, a labourer who died before 1915. JOHN JOSEPH was raised by his aunt who later emigrated to the USA as housekeeper for an ambassedor! JOHN JOSEPH visited the USA and served in the USA marines fighting against Mexico, and was discharged in 1910. he was a catholic. he came to Wales and married in 1915. my father was aware that he returned to ireland regularly but where and to visit whom he does not know. I am unable to give any more information, but if anyone can help i would be grateful. steve
