    3. On surface questions below may seem clerical but for most researchers it will be something that will be sought often. You find your folks on a townland and then you send for the map. I think the info. will be a good stow for the group search engine. 1. How much are Ordnance Survey (townland) Maps which relate to the Griffith Survey entries? (I ask here because answers from Valuation office are really slow, ie. ~ 1.5m) At bottom of the message I have clipped what they say about map costs at the Valuation office web site (http://www.valoff.ie/). 2. I was told that in Kilgorman civil parish Wexford that it would take 4 of these maps. Would that mean coverage would be 20 x 4= 80 punts. For the whole county of Wexford that might be about $800 punts. For govt maps that seems to be pretty expensive if I read it right. Universal exchange calculator at www.xe.net/ucc/ tells me rate March31, 2000 is as follows: 1.00 IEP (Ireland Punt) = 1.75791 CAD (Canada Dollars) 1.00 IEP (Ireland Punt) = 1.21285 CAD (American Dollars) 3. Does anyone know why it would be necessary to have boundries marked (as mentioned in 2nd section). Are either the maps or the Griffith Survey legend poorly referenced? Do staff there have some expertise or access that outsiders do not have (and that we would want)? 4. I clipped following info. of an earlier msg. (I think I have seen it more than once). Would that be same as above and as a shrunken version on A3/A4 size paper? You can order the 6"=1 mile OS Maps from the US Library of Congress, Photoduplication Service, Wash. DC, for $8.50 + S & H of $3.50. You do need to know the OS map # which covers the townland/parish you desire. ==== Copies of Maps VO Certified Copy = 40.00 Current Map (Photocopy) = 10.00 A3/A4 size (Photocopy) = 5.00 Griffith Map = 20.00 A3/A4 size = 10.00 Ordnance Survey Maps are available at prices set by the OSO. Fees for marking Valuation Office boundaries are as follows: Fee for marking boundaries (up to 5 lots) = 25.00 (Irish pounds) Each additional lot = 5.00 (Irish pounds) === Larry from Ottawa
