I have recently been fortunate to find a branch of Stokes family via the internet on a Stokes list. I am now trying to locate other branches or gather information about the family Stokes of Drumderry (near Clonegal and in the half-parish of Kildavin) John Stokes of Drumderry m Margaret Byrne The following are the baptismal records for the family taking note of the fact that the records only start a few years before the first child named in the record. Name : Betty. Bap : 28/Feb/1834 (later Eliza when married to Francis Nolan in 13 Oct 1863) Sponsors : Larry Nowlan & Ann Nowlan. Name : ____ possibly James Born 5/Sep/1839 Sponsors : John Dolan & Margaret Dolan Name : _______ Possibly Margaret Born 6/Oct/1842 Sponsors : Andrew Byrne & Molly Nolan Name : Patrick Bap : 6/Mar/1846 Sponsors : Tom Byrne and Mary Connor Name : Anna Bap 28/Aug/1848 Sponsors : James keogh & Mag Roche Died : 17/Apr/1926 in Drumderry Name : Michael Bap 16/May/1852 Sponsors : James Byrne & Alicia Byrne One of the indecipherable entries could be for John (my g-grandfather) but he was said to be 50 years upon death in 1894. I know what happened to Anna and Patrick left Ireland to go to London in 1875 to join the London Police! John is my g-grandfather It was said that some of the other members of the family emigrated to America or to Australia so I'm hoping that there may be some Listers who will recognise details As there are no death records available I don't know how many survived into adulthood. There was also an entry in the marraige register for a Mary Stokes of Drumderry who married Peter Byrne on 28/Nov/1867 (Witnesses Andy Kavanagh and Bidy Ronan). Thank You Phil Stokes ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
