Jane, The exchange rate quoted by Ruesch on Thursday, March 9 was $1.38 for a pound. (a lot less than the last few years). Therefore the amount of a US check would be $7.59, not 5.50 as I think you meant. Yes, Ruesch's rate of $15.00 is the same for one as for multiples in the same request, which is why it was dumb of me to send for one. But I thought I had a strong lead, and you know how impatient we family seekers are. Thanks for letting me know that the cost of certs has gone from 5 pounds to 5.50. It's been a year since I last sent for any. Also, I did not know that extra copies are only 4 pounds each and that the short form, or entries are 1.50 pounds. Things must have changed. Just as when I was told by Myra, the Prodigy, and now Rootsweb expert a few years ago that you had to send pound notes. So I don't know about hidden charges. I'm just glad to get all this help from all of you on the list. Milli
