I am researching my husband's CARTER ancestor, according to the Carter Family Bible: CARTER, Henry C. b."14 Jul 1833 in the County of Waxford (sic), Ireland" m.7 Apr 1857, Terre Haute, Indiana to Caroline Attilia HALL d.10 Mar 1901, Findlay, Hancock County, Ohio; age 67y 7mos 28da children of Henry & Caroline included: Frank Warren b.30 Oct 1859 Elmer Elsworth b.2 Nov 1861 Virginia May b.27 Sep 1863 Minerva b.2 Feb 1866 aka "Minnie Bill" CARTER Charles Ervin b.19 Mar 1867 Walter Clark b.10 Nov 1875 Carrie Hall b.25 Nov 1878 d.1915 *our line There was also a Charles Edwin b.19 Mar 1855 *not sure how this fellow is related, possibly a son. Charles E. CARTER married Elsie M. COON, 1 Dec 1889, Lima, Ohio. The family Bible lists marriage and births for at least 2 families, but does not mention specifically who the parents of the children are...so I am not positive that I have determined correctly on all. I believe the second family is that of Charles & Elsie noted above. I review of Griffith's Valuation Index shows only 2 CARTER families in Wexford, both in Ballysimon. I would be interested in hearing from anyone else researching this family or from someone familiar with the Ballysimon area. I do not know if this was a Protestant or RC family. Are parish records available for either religion for the 1830s or before? Thank you.
