Think of them as ferries, not ships, and you will have a better appreciation of the situation. Also, remember that in 1831, Ireland and England were part of the same united kingdom, so there were no migration formalities and no need to keep records of passengers. Most ferries to Liverpool probably sailed from Dublin, but it is likely that in 1831 there were ferries from Wexford and Belfast as well. You might be able to find out what specific routes were in regular service in 1831, but it wouldn't tell you anything about how your specific individual traveled. I suspect he could have gone directly from Wexford, or traveled to Dublin and gone from there. Merritt
