I am searching for information regarding my grandfather's family who lived in New Ross. > > TROY, PATRICK WILLIAM born 27 May 1866 at Michael Street, New Ross. Patrick left New Ross as a young man and went to sea, becoming a Captain. He worked in San Francisco and Alaska before moving to Australia where he married AINSWORTH, HILDA WINFRED in Melbourne on October 4 1904. They had 10 children and finally settled in GERALDTON, Western Australia where he passed away on the 30th of September 1936. > > His father was TROY, PATRICK JAMES Subconstable (eventually Sergeant in RIC) grand-nephew of Archbishop JOHN THOMAS TROY of Dublin and first cousin to Archbishop DANIEL MURRAY of Dublin. > > His mother was LEAHY, ELLEN (ELEANORE?) daughter of JOHN LEAHY, Merchant and Hotel Proprietor of KILKENNY CITY and grand niece to Bishop J DOYLE of KILDARE and LEIGHLIN, the great JKL. Ellen died in 1912 in New Ross. > > PATRICK WILLIAM TROY had 3 sisters whose names I do not know. One married and moved to Dublin, the other two were spinsters who lived in the family home in New Ross until their deaths. There was also a brother but I believe he died in infancy or childhood. > > Would love to hear from anyone researching this family or who lives in New Ross.
