For those in the Northeast, the Boston Public Library has all these in the Humanities reference section on the second floor of the old building. I believe the actual title is "In Search of Missing Friends" - the editor is a professor of history at Northeastern University in Boston. I've searched through them extensively and, although I haven't found anything of value to my CULLEN research, it's fascinating to read the detail that's provided on family relationships, geographic origins in Ireland, and the incredible mobility of the Irish in the 19th century. It really dispels the argument or perception by some that all the Irish settled in Boston or New York - they (we) went everywhere, and then moved on again if necessary to find work. By the way, the volumes are all indexed by surname, Irish county, Canadian and U.S. locations and more.
