    3. Dear List Some time back I was fortunate enough to be given wonderful help through this list in finding the origin of my grgrgrandfather Patrick Brien/Bryan/O'Brien who was born in an area close to Gorey in 1823, baptised in the RC church in Kilanerin. I also learned that he had several siblings: John baptised 1821,Michael 1826, Elizabeth 1828, Thomas 1832,Margaret 1834, John 1837 and Catherine 1840, the parents names were James and Catherine Carroll, the townland Annagh. I have quite a lot of information on Patrick who immigrated to Australia in 1855 after time served in the British army and Police force (nobody's perfect !) but I am having no luck with finding anything of the fate of the rest of the family, patrick stated on his immigration papers that his parents were alive and living at Gorey. Griffith's is inconclusive, one complication being the name, they seemed to use Brien in Ireland in Australia the family soon adopted the O'. I am hoping that there might be someone out there looking for this family who seem to have disappeared. Robyn Hardie Sydney
