My Patrick Byrne b. 1762 had 4 sons, James, Daniel, William and Edward. Edward did not perhaps marry Bess Pender, but they had a daughter Fanny Byrne b. 1838 d. 1892 who in 1863 married Marks (i.e. Marcus) Walsh. I need to check the dates but it would all be centred upon Adamstown/Taghmon.... they had been in Doonooney but slowly moved southwards towards Grasscur and Coollycall etc., via Newtown. Rushford name does not ring bells but Byrne/Pender is quite a coincidence! FamilySearch.org is testing their new search engine. I have tried it I find it much better than the old one And have today been using it to see what is the best way to go My suggestions are go to advance search Go down the boxes and place in 1-Last Name eg Byrne 2-Go to Location and type in WEXFORD Ireland and tick the box that says exact. 3-I then went down and where it says location put in Ireland ( nothing else just Ireland) Then where it said fathers first name and last name put in Mother name the same her first name then her maiden name This is the link below good luck and good hunting But please dont be dissapointed as still some names do not appear, but it does appear to me they are adding in more data as they go along. Time is what they have time is what you must give them. http://fsbeta.familysearch.org/ I hope this assists at least some of you Cheers for now I am off to bed I gathered 385 names for my files and was delighted Cara

I'm a little late with this, so you may already have found, or been given (off-List) this information, but just in case, are you familiar with Griffith's Valuation of Ireland? If not, I'll enclose the two websites that I use. There's a John Doran in the townland of Tomona, parish of Templeshanbo, and also an entry in the same townland for a Patrick SCALLAN. I only did a cursory look, so there could be other matches, or the two families could have lived in adjoining townlands, but at least it may be a start for you. Off the top of my head, I think Richard Griffith did Co. Wexford in the early 1850s, which would fit the timeframe for your people. I can't find Cara's source for the marriage of John Doran and Mary Scallen, but knowing the wonderful help that Cara gives, I would bet they're yours. Only the spelling of Scallan is different, which appears to be the only spelling of the surname I can find in Griffith's. Dear All, On the 1911 Census Trimmers Lane is called Summerslane West, The Clancy house number is 14. On 1901 its No 5. I understand from a recent visit to Wexford, that numbers were odd and even opposite at sides. Are there any plans in existence, that would show how the numbers went. Also I am trying to trace Mary Scallan ( nee Clancy) my GT GT GT Grandmother shown on the 1901 Census as a sister of Thomas Clancy my living at Number 5 Trimmers Lane. It states she is 50 on 1901 Census, believe she had a daughter around 1870 also called Mary Scallan My GT GT Grandmother . I think my GT GT GT Married Around 1868 to 1872 to ??????? Scallan, possibly Richard Scallan. Any information would be very much appreciated. Best Regards, Richard.
Hi. I also am curious about the house numbering system in Wexford during the 1911 census. My relatives Moses and Elizabeth Harpur lived in and had a store and pub at 55-57 South Main Street Wexford near Harpur's Lane. The census shows them at 40 South Main Street and if I recall there are no numbers in the 50's. Thanks Rootswebbers. -----Original Message----- From: wexford-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:wexford-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Richard Scallan Sent: Thursday, April 22, 2010 8:46 AM To: Wexford Requests Rootsweb Subject: [WEXFORD] Topic (1) House numbers in Trimers lane, Selskar. Shirley Have you looked at the Griffiths valuation to see if the Cody folk were in the area of Walsh folk in Wexford? I cannot locate an Andrew Walsh but I do note that a William Walsh and Anne Doran lived in Kilkenny and having babies from at least 1867 possibly does not fit your time frame and as Stasia is a shortened version of Anastatia and its variants Anne could well cover it as well.
