    2. SHIRLEY NEWBOLD
    3. I find Ballyconnick on the Discovery Ordnance Survey Map of Ireland #77 at the location between 13 & 14 N to S, and between 94 and 95 E to W. I believe I remember driving through it. I found when visiting Ire and perusing maps that towns sometimes weren't on maps, but they certainly still existed, even if only a few houses at a crossroad. Hope this helps Shirley Newbold Connick wrote: > > I see on some old maps of County Wexford a place called "Ballyconnick". > It's in the southern part of the county but not on the coast, > > Does anyone know if such a village or settlement called Ballyconnick > still exits? John Philip O Rourke wrote: > In 1911 Patrick Rourke, the son of Stephen Rourke, married Catherine Furlong, the daughter of Philip Furlong at Gallbally RC church in Clonroche. They both appear to have been from Raheenahoon, Co.Wexford. They were both born about 1887, and Patrick was a widower. In 1921 Patrick died and left behind at least five children that I know of: John, Polly, Philip, Patrick and Robert. The children seemed to have picked up the "O", making them O'Rourke. If you could help me with the births of either Patrick or Catherine (may be Catrine) I would be eternally grateful. If there are any lookups I could do for you in the Limerick area I would be more than happy. > > Feel free to browse my Home Page > <http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/o/r/o/Philip-J-Orourke/>

    1. [WEX] Killegney ca. 1860
    2. Could anyone tell me where the small town of Killegney is (or was) in Wexford? As in, what major road, near what larger town, etc? My gr-gr-grandmother, Annie Laura Fitzgerald, was born there in 1862 to Thomas Fitzgerald and Bridget Fenlon Fitzgerald. Killegney is not showing up on any map I've seen so far, yet I know it was in Wexford. By the way, where or what is Cloughbawn? Thanks very much, Jan Melton Memphis, TN

    3. John KENNY, son of John KENNY & Bridget, nee LAUGHLIN married Ann DOYLE, (of Donaghmore/Donnamore) dau. of John DOYLE and Ann, nee REDMOND circa 1829 in Wexford. Their four chn., Patrick, James (dec. infant), James and John were born there. Patrick and John were baptised in Ballygarrett R.C. Can not locate any reference to James, my great grandfather b. circa 1834. Have had research done at Co. Wexford H&G Society to no avail. The family emigrated to Australia in 1852 along with John Kenny's sister, Anastacia Kinchlare (Kinsella). The family property in Australia was named "Glascarrig" and Cahore Point and Gory were often referred to. Can we locate James's birth/baptism? or any information on the above families? Thanking you for any information. Bernadette Wells

    1. [WEX] Howlett name
    2. Thomas
    3. Hi, my name is Audrey Thomas and live in Queensland, Australia. This is my first message and I really need help. This is really a long shot but I am desperate to find out about the Howlett family. I looked in a surnames book that had some Howlett's listed in Wexford, so that is why I am trying your list to see if the following has any connection. William Howlett according to the 1881 census for Liverpool was born at sea, his age given as 78 which would make his birthyear 1803. I have tried searching the parish reg. of St. Peter's in Liverpool where his daughter was married but could not find him. Tried the 1851 census but could not find him on that either. I do not know his mother and father's name so I have come to a full stop. I would be really grateful for any information. 2. Larry O'Brien
    3. Does anyone know the origins of the name of the River Slaney. I would imagine that it was named after a woman called Slaney (but who is the question). My guess is some conquerer moved into town and said to his honey or daughter -"Girl this is for you" (which of course is now the center of modern Wexford county). 3. Hi, This is my first jaunt into Irish Family History. I have been on English and Scottish so far. I was wondering if SKS could let me know what is available for lookups and online in regards to census info and registers. I understand that the 1901 and 1911 census is available. Is it possible to purchase a copy, either on CD or microfiche? My interest lies in a Mary Hannah James b. Nov 21, 1891. My only problem is that family history says she was born in Wexford, Wales. Since there is no Wexford in Wales and I haven't been able to locate her in Wales through the Family History Centre, I am going to assume for the moment that it is Wexford, Ireland she was born in. The only other piece of information I have is her mother's name was Hannah, she had 3 brothers. Her mother died about 1899-1900 and Mary Hannah came to Canada around 1905. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks Susan Shewan British Columbia, Canada

Does anyone know if coroner's inquests were kept and if they are available for research? Alternately, does anyone know what newspaper might might have carried this story? Thanks, Erin Glynn in IL, USA
