Deirdra Sullivan of the IRL-CORK-CITY-L sent this message to her list and said I could pass it on...... I forgot to ask her if it is being advertised on an American Aer Lingus site......or from Ireland. Wonder if it works both ways <g> Maybe some people on some of the lists would be interested in checking out Aer Lingus sites..... Joan <"rolfes"@erols.com> Here's just a bit more, hopefully, to tie some ancestors together. My William STAFFORD arrived in New York City June 1, 1846 aboard the Fidelia. He was accompanied by Catherine STAFFORD, age 18. I am making the assumption that Catherine was his sister because; William's mother was Catherine REA and his father John STAFFORD. William named one of his daughters Catherine and William's wife's name was Johanna POWER. The usage of Catherine seems to fit the Irish naming pattern. Were William and Catherine related to Patrick? Who knows. Perhaps your parish priest will come up with something. Sure is difficult putting these ancestors together, but - - - - - Press on regardless. Happy New Year! Harry I. Stafford

We were in Ireland several years ago and found cemetery behind a church not far from New Ross that he was buried in with his wife Bridget. I thought they were buried in Kilanne, but I really am not sure. I need help with this. I remember the name Rathangan but I really got confused over there. TOMSTONE INSCRIPTION SAID: Erected by Patrick Coady of Grange in Memory of his father John Coady who died 13 April 1861 age 71. Also his mother Bridget Coady 13 Nov. 1862 age 75 years, also his sister in law Elizabeth 10 Nov 1848 age 30 years. (Elizabeth was Elizabeth Joyce 1st wife of my great grandfather Edmund who came to the US. in abt 1849 after she died) Erected by Patrick Coady of Askinvillian in memory of his father James Coady who died 15 Feb. 1855 age 47, also his aunt Johanna Coady 8 Sept 1872 age 65 years. Also his uncle Martin Coady died 20 Oct 1875 age 70 years. Also his children James died 2 Jan 1872 1 year, and Martin died 22 Nov 1875 age 2 years. I have a list of several of the children if you think this can be yours. Donna Coady Clarke E-mail tcdc100@harenet.net PS. Hope to hear from you or anyone else that knows of this family. Edmunds sisters death certificate says she was born in New Ross.
To all who have been talking about the surname STAFFORD in Rathangan, I have a letter from John Cody to his son Patrick in PEI, written in 1821. In that letter he mentions that a Walter Stafford, neighbor, is well. Is this Walter Stafford one of any of yours? I am trying to get more information about John, father of the emigrants Patrick and Mark. There were other siblings left behind, but he mentioned no names. Trying to tie John down. His postmark is Rathangan, there were Cody's in that parish, but that's as far as I have gotten. As the saying goes, any information would be a great help. Sincerely, Shirley Newbold newbolds@home.com
I know very little about my Kennedy ancestors. I have been told that in 1891, Daniel John KENNEDY and his wife Elizabeth KENNY were living in Kilmachil, Wexfondie, Hibernia. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I would begin searching for these people? Would appreciate any ideas and information. Bonnie Petee Michigan USA
Hi Joan, Its been some time since we've exchanged STAFFORD information and in that time I've learned that my gggrandfather, William STAFFORD was baptised in St. Martin's Roman Catholic church, Piercestown, Diocese of Ferns, County Wexford 25 August 1825. His parents and sponsors are also given. While this is but a small bit of information do you or other Wexford listers see a connection with your lines? Pierce(s)town is apparently a placenane within the RC parish of Rathmacknee. Other names with STAFFORD connections appear to be Johnstown Castle and Baldwinstown. An Irish contact has written me there are only two STAFFORDs buried in the Rathangan graveyard. They are William Edmond STAFFORD, buried 1827, and his wife Mary Margaret STAFFORD, who was a STAFFORD birth. Maybe someone will read this and will be able to fill in another piece of the puzzle. Happy New Year and hope to hear from you! Harry I. Stafford <teebag2@juno.com>
Hi Henry Stafford and Happy New year: I wish I could help you with your Staffords. However, I saw a familiar name in your latest note. My great grandfather Peter Quin(n) was a native of County Wexford and was born about 1808 in either Baldwinstown or Longridge in the Parish of Rathangan. He later married Catherine Pierce, also of Wexford. The Parish Registers of Rathangan show the baptisms of Peter's first four of their nine children - Thomas ( my grandfather), Bridget, Stephen and Patrick . It may be that Peter worked in the lime quarry at Rathyork (next to Baldwinstown). It is so seldom that one sees a familiar place name in the Wexford annals that I had to share some thoughts with you. Good luck on your search and thanks for listening. Getting in on the Stafford discussion...Am not searching staffords per se...yet... but know they're cousins to my Keating cousins through the Kellys. These Staffords are from and residing in Ballygrangans, near Kilmore. Have photos of some from the early 1900s. Searching KEATING CODD DOYLE WHITTY PETTIT

This Christmas morning is a bit in the minus O range, but ice fog has created a crystal fairyland around here. Now if the sun comes out it really will sparkle. Quite beautiful. I had a computer crash right after I e-mailed a note to someone who had e-mailed me and asked me what I had on O'Brien. John Pierce circa b 1845 married Margaret Sparrow. They had William, b. 1850 Ireland m Margaret Slatterly - lived just outside Rochester James, b/. 1841 m Mary Ann Hickey - settled in Rochester, Minn John, m Mary Riley - lived just outside Rochester Matthew, b 1862 m Winnifred Degnan - Lived in England before going to Rochester. Katherine, (Katy) m John Emmett - settled in Rochester Mary, m William Kienast Ellen b 1865 m Daniel (Danny) O'BRIEN - b. County Cork Ireland, settled in Rochester child Frank O'BRIEN m. Rosella Nolan children of Frank and Rosella Patricia m Thomas Kinsely Thomas Joseph m Suzanne Bringgold Terrance Francos m Mary Lou Stransky Charles-Jensen m (1) Fairess Bruckman (2) MaryLou LaVoie Smith I also have the fourth and fifth generations of the O'Brien's with dates . There are no dates on this copy of my documentation for the above generations. I have a bio written by the grandchild of Daniel/Ellen which mentions that they did, indeed live if Rochester, Minn. [The author, Charles F. Jensen -s/o Mary O'Brien) of the bio states that he was born in Soioux City, Nebraska A picture is included with my information showing a church in County Wexford -Rosslaire (Ireland) where the Pierce family attended. The first Pierces may have lived in New Jersey before ending up in Rochester, Minn. John Pierce circa b 1845 married Margaret Sparrow had another daughter, Elizabeth who went to England and was lost in the shuffle. Carol Magee
Yes, there were Pooles in that area, as well. The first one I show was probably born in the 1820's or 1830's though. I have James POOLE who married Ellen MURPHY and had children Peter b. abt 1857, Bridget b. abt 1859, John b. abt 1862 and Mary b. abt 1864. There may have been more but these are the only ones from my tree.
