Hello Anne, Thank you for your reply to my posting. I am afraid I cannot tell you an awful lot about my FURLONGS, except that Catherine FURLONG, daughter of Philip FURLONG, of Barmoney, Co. Wexford, married Patrick ROURKE, son of Stephen ROURKE of Raheennahoon, Co. Wexford, at Clonroche in 1911. Witnesses at the wedding were Bridget and William FURLONG, whom I assume to be siblings of Cathrine. According to Griffith's Valuation there were two listing for FURLONG for Barmoney; they were John FURLONG and Edward FURLONG. Regards Philip O'Rourke Subject: Furlong's > Hi Philip, > This is a long shot but you asked. John and Ellen Furlong immigrated from > Ireland to Montreal from County Carlow, the Parish of Turlow in 1810. They > had five children while there and latter settled in Michigan. > That is the only information I have and not sure if that is right. > Let me know. > Anne >
In reply to the Lamberts of Wicklow post there is a story about the real Zorro being a Lambert or "noble" upbringing who studied in Dublin but was from Wexport. (I thought this might be a typo for Wexford (maybe it is) but I have been told there is a Wexport in County Mayo. Lamberts out there should check this story out and less us know more. Is anyone aware of a Lambert group going to Yorkshire, England? My dentist is a Lambert and found William and Richard Lambert in Yorkshire. Carol Magee

Hi, I'm a newcomer to the Wexford list and wonder if anyone has any information on the ancestors or siblings of George Boulton/Bolton, born 1740 in Wexford, died 1794 in Ontario, Canada. Married Nancy Bickfort in 1761. They had at least one child, Abram/Abraham born in Wexford in 1762 and died July 13, 1850 in Canada. They migrated as some point to Ontario, Canada. They had 13 children total, most of whom were born in Canada. I would be most grateful for any leads on either the Boultons or Bickforts. I hope to come to Wexford next July to continue the search. If anyone should like information on the descendants of George and Nancy, send me your e-mail address and I'll be happy to send an attached file. Carol Milam Lackey

A respondent to a recent posting by me, having as its subject the BARLOW family of Ballyrannel, Glenbrien, Co. Wexford enquired if a LAMBERT, who married a BARLOW, might have been from Co. Wicklow. I have now located information concerning some Co. Wicklow LAMBERTS which might be of interest to him/her, whose E-mail address I have not retained. This concerns the emigration to the American Mid-West of over 1,000 people from counties Wicklow and Wexford led by Fr Thomas Hore in 1850. Among the passengers on board the TICONDEROGA were four LAMBERTS: Catherine (age 24);Charles (29); Mary (24) and Esther (not given). Another LAMBERT, John, ( aged 31), sailed on board the 'LOODINAGH'. This information is gleaned from 'A Farewell to Famine' , by Jim Rees and published by Arklow Enterprise Centre (1994). I hope it will be of interest to some subscriber/s. Michael O'Hanrahan.
I'm new to the list as I have just identified that my GALLIVAN ancestors were from New Ross. They are: EDWARD GALLIVAN - born 7/1809-6/1810 wife: MARY ? GALLIVAN - ? (does not appear in US records) daughter: ELIZABETH - born 7/1842-6/1843 daughter: ELLEN - born 7/1844-6/1845 This Catholic family emigrated to Cincinnati, Ohio, first appearing in any records in the 1860's. I would appreciate any suggestions for researching in New Ross and am wondering if anyone is familiar with or connected to this name. Thanks very much. Bob Krebs
Is anyone in Wexford researching the CRAGUN line? Mike W
I too have Kinsellas from Wexford and was hoping you'd keep me in your files if you ever have any luck. My James Kinsella, born about 1830, came to St. Louis, MO about 1850. He married Margaret Sheridan, also of Wexford believed. His parents Laurence Kinsella and Johanna Fanning of Wexford. Maybe at this level here we can make a connection. Best of Luck in your research, Chris Doehring St. Louis, MO
I am new to the list, doing research for my best friend. Kate Brophy married a Terrence Cummins of Killann (sp). I notice that there is also a Killanne in Galway and a Killane in Offally so I am not sure if this list is the proper one to research. Further info included: their daughter Winifred born in (Connaberry) County in 1873 married Maurice O'Neill in Chicago in 1898. Terrence and Kate had 3 other children names unknown. Any help with any of these lines would be appreciated. Beth Raasch Prior Lake, MN
Hello from New Zealand I'm hoping someone can help me with birth records for my gg grandfather Thomas MOORE who was born in Tandaragee, Armagh about 1849. According to Thomas's death certificate, his parents were James MOORE and Nancy CONNORY. However, James MOORE's death certificate gives his wife as Nancy DONELLY. I believe that James and Nancy were married in Co Armagh about 1842 - maybe in Tandaragee? The family were Catholic. Maybe someone who has been dealing with Catholic records in Tandaragee could advise me how to go about obtaining a birth/baptism record for Thomas MOORE and the marriage records for James and Nancy. Thank you. Alica McMillan Wellington, NZ alica@paradise.net.nz
I amlooking for any records concerned my part of the Meadows family By belief is that they were early incomers into Ireland probably part of the Protestant who were settled there. records for the 1700s indicate that there were large Nos. of Meadows in Wexford, few anywhere else. A family letter indicates that they fled Ireland probably for good reason before 1700 landing themselves in a remote part of the northern English Cotswolds -longborough where they stayed until 1900ish. I am really interested in hearing of any other meadows who emigrated from Wexford to either England or America, to look at early common threads Alternatively I heard from an ancient uncle now deceased that some family members went in the early 1900s from Gloucestershire temple Guiting probably to California Any links with nay of this anyone has will be useful Vivien Meadows
Re-posting Has anyone come across the surname FURNEY in their research? The family started, I think, in Queen's County (Co. Laois) and moved to Dublin, North and South Co. Wexford and co.Cork. My research has reached the "Brick Wall" and I am hoping that someone might have some information. Peter Furney Windsor Berks UK

Hello, I too was intrigued by the possibility (slight tho it may be) that some church records of Ireland MIGHT be available on microfilm. Does anyone know if the records (both Catholic and Church of Ireland) are microfilmed for New Ross, Co Wexford. And if so, where are they available from. I have checked LDS and they do not have them. Are there any other places I can access the vital statistics OTHER than a visit to New Ross itself - which I am planning for 2001, but would like to do as much research as possible beforehand. thank you, Ned Schimminger, just outside Niagara Falls
A William Moneymaker [don't know if that's his real name but he's sure an entrepreneur!] maintains a free lookup service. Email your request to: wfmoney@ovnet.com [put CD357 Passenger & Immigration List lookup in your subject] [put one person's name on first line in caps] req 357 Passenger and Immigration Lists - Irish to America 1846-1865 then put any other message he will reply almost immediately with a _I'll get back to you later_ email and put some links for you to browse as part of his signature. I checked out some of those links and they led me to lots of good links. He apparently makes his money off gobs of advertising and I'm sure some of the _make money_ links give him a kickback. I only sent him my request Saturday and yesterday [only one per day!] so I don't know how long it will take him to respond, but I remember using him a year or so ago and was satisfied. btw: still looking for: Joseph T Furlong whose first record of being in Newfoundland was when he married Agness Kavanagh in 1881. Hello list - I have been intrigued by a couple recent postings on the list - basically, I wonder if someone could give me a short synopsis of the "Robinson settlers of Canada" - apparently from the early 1800's or point me to the right place to learn about them. My gr grandfather James Robinson was from New Ross, Co. Wexford and came to the United States via Canada (at Niagara Falls) about 1889. I am wondering if there might be some connection to the "Robinson settlers" alluded to above. I know nothing about his ancestry except that he was of the Church of Ireland and his parents were Matthew ROBINSON and Anna Kehoe. He married Mary CADOGAN in New Ross in 1872. Thanks in advance for any help Ned Schimminger, just outside Niagara Falls
I am still searching for information about my gfather's family in Ireland. William John MANLEY joined the army in 1884 in Kinsale and did not return to Ireland after that. His military record gives his birthdate as 1862 and his place of birth as Castleknock. We understand there is no RC parish record of a MANLEY or MANLY born there for some years around that date. It seems likely that it was simply a place he remembered from his earliest years. His record gives his parents names as John and Bridget. The record indicates John to have lived in Castleknock and to have died in July 1889. We can find no record of his death at that time, so it may simply have been the date he heard of his fathers death. His next of kin is then recorded as his mother Bridget living at 5 East James Street, Dublin. We have so far not been able to locate the registration of the death of Bridget with any certainty, but the contenders are: Bridget Manley DQ1 1894 Rathdown aged 59 Bridget Manley DQ41894 Rathdown aged 56 Bridget Manley DQ4 1901 Ballina aged 74 Bridget Manley DQ3 1902 Limerick aged 61 Bridget Manly DQ11908 Dublin s aged 60 Bridget Manley DQ! 1911 Cork aged 83 The Bridget Manly seems unlikely since she would have been only 14 or 15 at the time of William's birth. Any links out there? Brian Manley
Does anyone know what records the Wexford Genealgy Centre has on computer? Do they have most or all the Roman Catholic parish records on computer? If some or all of these records are computerized, is there anyway for an individual to get direct access? Also, just generally, what kind of service and services can one expect and receive from the centre? Thanks for any information or insights
