Mr. O'Rourke I have been looking for a Morgan's Hill or O'Flaherty's Hill in Co Wexford. Probably a local name, Since you have been searching Co Wexford for so long I was hoping you might have heard of such a place. My Gt Gt Grandfather Morgan O'Flaherty and Mary, inherited the manor house of a British lord, in gratitude for Mary saving his baby daughter's life. My Gt Grandfather Edward Patrick Flaherty later inherited it at the time of his parents death as he was the eldest son, having already immigrated to the US and being a sea captain he refused to return to claim. This is the only clues I have to trying to locate where in Wexford he was from. If you have heard of either name, sure would appreciate a holler from anyone who might be able to help me. Many thanks, Sharon from Montana ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
I have record of a lease to a Catherine Rossiter "for the life of Thomas Rossiter" dated from 1834. Her representative was a Joseph Brown and he lived in next house over where he had lease from same date "for the life of William Brown." Thomas was still living in Kilmore area of County Wexford in 1879 but William had gone to America but was thought to be still living. Anyway, bottom line: there were Rossiters and Browns in that area of County WExford so maybe there were more. Hope this helps some. LOL Cathy Rossing
Hi, I'm a new subscriber. I'm just beginning to research my g g grandfather, Thomas CROSBY, who emigrated to Vermont from Wexford in the early 1850's. I believe my g g grandmother's name was Anne STATIN. Their six children born in Ireland were Alexander, Miles(Milo), Mike, William, Kate, and Bridget. I don't know anything other than this. Where to begin?? Dan
Can anyone help me with information regarding my Great Great Great Great Grandmother Augusta Dykes. She was married to Thomas Scott a Botswain in the British Navy during the early 1800's. Thomas was born in the 1790's but I am really after information about either his place of birth of anything to do with Augusta. I know that he was born in Wexford but that is all the information I have. Mark Weaver
Just joined this list and here is my story: Searching for any leads on Patrick BROWNE who married Margaret ROSSITER . Their daughter, Margaret born @1856 came to USA(St. Louis, Missouri) That she came from Co Wexford is verbal family history. The family was RC. We have always seen the "E" on the BROWNE and ROSSITER spelled that way, but I know that is not necessarily so.Margaret Browne married Bryan King and was my greatgrandmother. Any help is appreciated. It was run by Mrs Patrick Stafford whose husband was in charge of the Center Tom O'Connor, Braintree, MA

Can anyone give me some tips as to where I should look next. This is what I know of my ancestor. Edward Sinnott, son of William & Jane O'Neil, from Co. Wexford, came to Canada mid 1700s and died between 1800 and 1827. Have copy of his marriage record to Josette Robert in 1780. Don't know where he was from in Wexford and have no clue where to start looking. Thanks.
Hello! Just reposting my surnames. Thomas MYLER, b. c. 1735, married Margaret OWEN. Their son, THOMAS MYLER b. 1761, married Elizabeth CROW b. 1764, in the (Presbyterian? - or, perhaps the protestant?) parsonage in Old Ross in 1786. They had a son, THOMAS MYLER, b. 1788 in Old Ross. In the fall of 1790, Thomas and Elizabeth and their small child emigrated to the U.S., landing in Baltimore after a three-month journey. I am trying to document this family, going back to the first Thomas in 1735. It is my understanding that the Thomas born in 1735 was a linen draper, not only manufacturing linen, but selling it as well. He was also a fairly wealthy land owner in the mid and late 1700's. Where might any records of this family be kept in County Wexford today? In the family history, written in 1911, it says that much of the above information was passed down from Elizabeth Crow Myler herself. Her family is supposed to have lived in a castle in Old Ross. If someone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it very much! Doing research in Ireland is fairly new to me, although I am learning a lot by reading all the posts on this wonderful list! Nancy M(yler) Goodwin Wilmington, DE USA pianoteacher3@juno.com

Genevieve: I am wondering if your BELL family could be connected to mine. My gg-grandparents were Edward BELL and his wife Elizabeth (maiden name unknown). Edward was born before 1810, probably in Scotland, but married Elizabeth in Ireland (I believe) about 1826 and lived in Carnew, Co. Wicklow (where his children were baptized in the Ch. of Ireland) and later moved to near Gorey, Co. Wexford. There children (and birthdates) were: Joshua (1827), may have married Mary WOODS and fathered Edward BELL, b. 1865 Gorey, Co. Wexford. Jemima (1829), married Mathew HOUGHTON, migrated to Quebec abt 1850 and to Kentucky abt 1861. My g-grandparents. John (1831) Eliza (1834) Sarah Jane (1836) Susan (1838), came to America with sister Jemima, died in Kentucky 1867, unmarried. Mary (1840) The only ones I have further info on are Jemima and her sister Susan. Does anything look familiar? Merritt mmullen@ridgecrest.ca.us Merritt D. My mother, who speaks Irish says....(Phonetical spelling) "Keyown-dove" for "blackhead". Dov = black. Keyown (as in "crown") = head. It's spoken as two one syllable words. "Keown Dove" Peggy Leonard Searching for Waddocks/Weadicks, Mootey/Mooty, Redmond, Murphy, O'Neill "Go fish"
1. In the tithe applotment survey transcribers use " " marks a lot. They could mean same as above or they could mean info is zero. I had thought that it meant first but writers seem to be inconsistant. I would imagine that a lot on the list have accessed these films. Comments please. 2. I also have found the index virtually useless. Names (including parishs for my relatives) were missing. There is great variation in interpreting illegible scripts but ommitting many readable names in unacceptible. Larry O'Brien from Ottawa http://www.fortunecity.com/millennium/malt/309/index.html
