Please help me. Can anyone supply me with information pertaining to the Scott family of Wexford. My Great Great Great Great Grandad Thomas Scott was born in Wexford in 1779 and at the moment I am having no luck in any of the searches I have attempted so far in tracking down his parents of precise place of birth. Do any of you kind people out there have any relevant information regarding any Scott family or any brilliant ideas of how to push back the boundaries of my family tree! Mark Weaver
Linda, There are several, if not many Sinnotts in Ballyboggan, Tikillen Parish, East Shelmaliere Barony, Wexford Union. Some of them were the lessors of my ggrandparnts houses and lots. This from Griffiths Valuation, possibly the best source for Irish research since most Censuses were destroyed. Also, from this list I understand that there are many Sinnotts throughout CO. Wexford. Hello Linda I don't know whether this will help you much, but there are a number of SINNOTTs living in Wexford at present. This info from a professional researcher doing some work for me. His son also came to Ontario in 1815. I looked through my info on the Irish Rebellion but did not see a reference to a Webster. The items I looked at were: "A list of some of the protestants massacred in the diocese of Ferns..." , "Protestant inhabitants of the parish of Ferns, murdered in the rebellion", and the so called "bloody list" of prisoners killed on the bridge at Wexford in 1798. These are all from the Musgrave's Rebellions in Ireland book. Sherrye

Hello, I am a new subscriber, interested in tracking my Grandmother's Mother, Bridgit DWYER, Native Place, Killkenny, tried and convicted in Wexford and transported on the Hooghley to Botany Bay, in 1831. She left a husband and child at home in Killkenny, but brought a son James with her out to Australia. Subsequently married again gained her ticket of freedom and produced what appears to be a large and successful family. Any further assistance, regarding trials, transportation would be much appreciated. Dawn Sydney Australia

Can someone please lookup the local church and newspaper (probably in the closest town!) for MYLERSPARK in County, Wexford! Thank you. Rose
Right now I am leaving for short vacation however will be glad to send map of area which includes leases. Wording follows for Lot 27, parcel #3. Joseph Brown, representative of Catherine Rossiter. Leasedated 2st February, 1834, from Nicholas Aylward Vigors to Catherine Rossiter for the life of Thomas Rossiter, then aged about eight years, son of lessee, or twenty-one years from 29th September then last, whichever should last longest, of a house and garden. Reservation to lessor of all mines, minerals, &c. Also reservation of liberty of hunting, fishing and fowling on demised premises. The life is in being. The original counterpart of this lease is not forthcoming but a compared copy of the tenant's part will be handed to the purchaser.. Yearly rent was 39L2s0d. Quantity of land was 34A.3R,38 P. ..>>>> I have not had the exact translations of the acreage transcribed. Joseph Brown also had a lease for part of #3. Same start but it reads<< for life of William Brown, then aged about three years, or twenty-one years from 29th September then last, whichever shall last longest. The life went to America and is believed to be living. The original counterpart, etc. etc.>> This was part of an estate sale in 1879. Map is most valuable, I think as it shows location of plots of land. I will try to scan but if I cannot, please send me your regular address and I will post after the 21 for sure and before if I get a chance. Know how it is when you get a possible lead. We MUST KNOW NOW. This Catherine Rossiter must have been a widow at the original lease time of 1834. She was also still alive in 1879. They lived two houses away from my greats--the Peter Sinnotts. When I find it, I also have copy of 1911 census for this area but all I have now is the one page I was looking at for the Keating side of my family. Their area was Rackardstown but it is part of the Bridgetown district that someone else mentioned on the list today. So it would seem it is all in the same official district. LOL Cathy Rossing
Would a kind soul have access to Wexford (town or county) records. Looking for William and Edward Sinnott or and Jane O'Neil Sinnott 1700s. Could also be spelled Sinnett. Many thanks.
I do not have all of my materials with me as I am in a winter residence, but I distinctly remember another Ballybrennan in the Parish of Tikillen, Barony of East Shelmaliere, Wexford Union. When I was looking for my Brennans in Ballyboggan in Griffiths, I noted it and wondered why there had been no Brennans in Ballybrennan. Milli Researching Brennan, Murphy, Leary, Kehoe, Thornton
Hi my name is Melinda Baker and I am looking for my great grandfather Thomas Henry Cox. According to all the information I have Thomas came to the States in the 1850's he was naturalized Oct. 31, 1856 in DeKalb County, Illinois, after which at sometime he moved to the Leavenworth, Kansas area where he enlisted in The First Kansas Infantry, Co. G on 29 May 1861. While serving his country in the Civil War he married Susanah Elizabeth Baker, and according to this and his military records he was born the 27 Jun 1832 in Wexford County, Ireland. I am looking for any information on his parents. According to family rumor he might have been disinherited. Can not find any information on them except that on the 1880 census for Kansas he lists them as both being born in Ireland but no names. Any help would be greatly welcomed. Excellent advice, for any research. I found where my grandparents were from, and a whole new family there -- in Maryland. Milli
Dear Maureen. I have Somers on my father's line, but have little real information. Just in case here is what I have: Catherine Somers year of birth not known, but her son, my grandfather, was born 1870 - so a guess would be 1845. She died ~1911. Family history says her family came north to Co. Armagh "to work on the railroad being built". But it also says (with several ??) that the family came from Carlow! So maybe no connection at all. Do you have any known links to Co. Armagh or the White or Woods lines? Hope it helps, Mike

I'm just beginning to research my g g grandfather, Thomas CROSBY, who emigrated to Vermont from Wexford in the early 1850's. I believe my g g grandmother's name was Anne STATIN. Their six children born in Ireland were Alexander, Miles(Milo), Mike, William, Kate, and Bridget. I don't know anything other than this. Where to begin?? I'ld like to jump in here and offer you a little bit of help. I too was doing research from Wexford to Vermont....and found a wealth of information in Vermont. I was trying to jump to Ireland so fast I didnt' look at what was right here in between. Do as much research as you possibly can at home thru the LDS or your local genealogical society. Join the surname lists on www.rootsweb.com. I was able to locate direct descendents of our Patrick and Bridget Bryne Kehoe from these types of lists and thats how I found out what parish to look for. It's a journey. A grand one but one that must begin at home....which ever side of the pond that may be. I am requesting a lookup. I have a copy of a birth registration for John Michael MURPHY son of John MURPHY of Bridgetown and Margaret O'KEEFFE MURPHY. The page says District of Bridgetown, Union of Wexford and County of Wexford. The date of the registration is Jan. 24, 1874. It says that John was a shop keeper. Is there anyone that would have further information on this family. Other children and/or parents of John and Margaret? Thank you in advance for any info forwarded.
