    1. [WEX] Sinnott
    2. Bruce, James and any other interested in Sinnotts: What I have is minuscule and vague. An Anne Sinnott appeared on two pages of the valuation books as an occupier relating to lot 11 of the Ordinance Survey Map # 32. Lots a, b, c were occupied mostly by my ancestors, Brennan's, Murphy's and Leary's. But when there were changes, such as deaths, names were scratched through and new occupiers or lessors names written above. Such changes occurred in 1879 and 1883, at which time her name appeared above my ggrandfather's name. The lot is in Ballyboggan, Tikillen parish, East Shelmaliere Barony. I have read on this list that there were many Sinnott's in Co. Wexford, so this does not mean much. Sorry if I gave you false hope. Milli

    1. [WEX] Prerogative Wills of Ireland: 1536-1810
    2. I found the following book in the New England Genealogical Society catalog. Does anyone own a copy of this book who could take a quick look for the surname MYLER? My family lived in County Wexford in the 1700's, but I am most interested in finding a will for Thomas Myler who died between 1782-1792 in Old Ross. He left a wife, Margaret Owen Myler (who died c. 1794), and at least three sons, Thomas (b. c. 1761), William and James - all of whom eventually emigrated to the U.S., starting in 1790. I suppose that he and his wife had a daughter or two, but do not know their names. Any help would be appreciated. Hannah Bryan Trotman, born August 10, 1827 in County Wexford, came to US in the 1850's (we think) married Thomas Trotman C. 1860, died Dec. 14, 1897 in Brooklyn, NY. 1. [WEX] KIELTY
    2. Catherine Davies-Shiel
    3. Hi I have been sitting on the list for quite some time reading, but now hope that some kind person could possible give me a few pointers as I am not a resident of Ireland, and only normally do research in Wales. I am researching the name KIELTY and only have a very limited amount of detail. KIELTY, Elizabeth Mary born 9.1.1937 Wexford died 14.3.1995 Barrow in Furness, Cumbria Mother - Maureen POWERS born ? ? Father - Patrick KIELTY born ? Wexford Married in London in 1927 Grandmother - Margaret WITTY born ? Grandfather - Joseph KIELTY born 1900 (?) died 1976 (?) Buried at Grasstown ? Cemetary That's it! Is there something I could read which would give me any pointers as to where to look? I am aware that a great deal of records have been destroyed. They were all Catholics if that is of any help. Could I obtain any microfiche? Is there an index or some one who could check the details at Grasstown? Cemetary for me? (cheeky I know:) Unfortunately, Elizabeth Kielty died in a house fire in 1995 and all papers relating to her family were destroyed Any help however small would be a great help. Elizabeth was my partners mother and is wanting to get back to his Irish roots. Regards and thanks in anticipation Didger & Kat

    1. [WEX] map costs
    2. Larry O'Brien
    3. On surface questions below may seem clerical but for most researchers it will be something that will be sought often. You find your folks on a townland and then you send for the map. I think the info. will be a good stow for the group search engine. 1. How much are Ordnance Survey (townland) Maps which relate to the Griffith Survey entries? (I ask here because answers from Valuation office are really slow, ie. ~ 1.5m) At bottom of the message I have clipped what they say about map costs at the Valuation office web site (http://www.valoff.ie/). 2. I was told that in Kilgorman civil parish Wexford that it would take 4 of these maps. Would that mean coverage would be 20 x 4= 80 punts. For the whole county of Wexford that might be about $800 punts. For govt maps that seems to be pretty expensive if I read it right. Universal exchange calculator at www.xe.net/ucc/ tells me rate March31, 2000 is as follows: 1.00 IEP (Ireland Punt) = 1.75791 CAD (Canada Dollars) 1.00 IEP (Ireland Punt) = 1.21285 CAD (American Dollars) 3. Does anyone know why it would be necessary to have boundries marked (as mentioned in 2nd section). Are either the maps or the Griffith Survey legend poorly referenced? Do staff there have some expertise or access that outsiders do not have (and that we would want)? 4. I clipped following info. of an earlier msg. (I think I have seen it more than once). Would that be same as above and as a shrunken version on A3/A4 size paper? You can order the 6"=1 mile OS Maps from the US Library of Congress, Photoduplication Service, Wash. DC, for $8.50 + S & H of $3.50. You do need to know the OS map # which covers the townland/parish you desire. ==== Copies of Maps VO Certified Copy = 40.00 Current Map (Photocopy) = 10.00 A3/A4 size (Photocopy) = 5.00 Griffith Map = 20.00 A3/A4 size = 10.00 Ordnance Survey Maps are available at prices set by the OSO. Fees for marking Valuation Office boundaries are as follows: Fee for marking boundaries (up to 5 lots) = 25.00 (Irish pounds) Each additional lot = 5.00 (Irish pounds) === Larry from Ottawa

    2. Shasteen
    3. I read the earlier inquiry from Peter about sources for maps & landlord info - Have found some great info: If you are not familiar with the search engine called All the Web (www.alltheweb.com ) you should try it out. This engine is FAST, and very comprehensive. When I searched for the keywords historical maps Ireland the list of useful sites that came back was huge...Great places to get maps. Through this list I also found the local Ireland site ( www.local.ie/genealogy/) which is a goldmine of information, not only of specific information about genealogy research for Irish roots, but also for information about the divisions of Ireland and a description of what sources are available for research into those divisions. There are many links to different areas of Ireland, so use All The Web to get the list so you can choose which link you need. Through the local Ireland site you can link into the info on how to find your ancestors through rent records, church records, landowner records, etc... Have fun!
