    1. [WEX] Re: Marriage Index Lookup
    2. Sherill Mills
    3. Hi Joan, First of all thank you for offering look-ups. I think I understand what information you require and what information you can supply. I have supplied both names so that you may have the opportunity to cross-check and thereby possibly give me information that is more likely to definitely relate to my search. I don't know when the marriage took place but going by the birthdates of what children I have found I think it would have been in the second half of the 1850's. The names are Mary WHELAN and James CUMMINS (which I have also found recorded as COWMAN). I have them at various times in Clonmines and Boley, Ballycullane in County Wexford. Any assistance you can give that might lead me to a marriage record would be appreciated. Thank you, Sherill Mills Melbourne, Australia

    3. Michael and list members, I have JORDANS that I am researching. I am adding my information in at the end of this letter. Your Anna is of the same age range as my JORDANS, and may have arrived in the USA around the same time, though not to the same part of the country. Have you checked the census for the decades prior to their marriage? Was Anna JORDAN her maiden name or had she been married before. Was your DROHAN a vetran of the Civil War? I did get quite a bit of information on one family member by requesting his military pension papers, including information on his wives, we knew of two but he had three. You may find other JORDANS from that area. As you will see, my family tended to settled in the same area. Not really any info, but things to ponder, like we don't have enough to do. Good luck on your JORDANS. Here is my family as I know it: Seeking information on the parents or descendents of JORDAN County Wexford, Ireland possibly from Newtonbarry, now called Bunclody. Children of JORDAN: Peter b1809., Moses b1823., James b1827., Elizabeth BYRNE(S) b1818.,Catherine or Katherine (Kitty) DOYLE b?., The family located in the Utica area- Cedarville and West Winfield in the mid 1800's. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 3. It has been a while since I first posted to the Wexford list. I am searching for information regarding my grandfather's family who lived in New Ross. > > TROY, PATRICK WILLIAM born 27 May 1866 at Michael Street, New Ross. Patrick left New Ross as a young man and went to sea, becoming a Captain. He worked in San Francisco and Alaska before moving to Australia where he married AINSWORTH, HILDA WINFRED in Melbourne on October 4 1904. They had 10 children and finally settled in GERALDTON, Western Australia where he passed away on the 30th of September 1936. > > His father was TROY, PATRICK JAMES Subconstable (eventually Sergeant in RIC) grand-nephew of Archbishop JOHN THOMAS TROY of Dublin and first cousin to Archbishop DANIEL MURRAY of Dublin. > > His mother was LEAHY, ELLEN (ELEANORE?) daughter of JOHN LEAHY, Merchant and Hotel Proprietor of KILKENNY CITY and grand niece to Bishop J DOYLE of KILDARE and LEIGHLIN, the great JKL. 1. [WEX] DROHAN/JORDAN
    2. It has been awhile since I posted this. I thought I would give it another try. We are in search of any information on the family name DROHAN, specifically PIERCE DROHAN (my gg grandfather). He was born in Ireland on April 10, 1836 and married ANNA JORDAN in Paris, KY in September, 1863. JORDAN was born on September 18, 1845 and I have reason to believe she was born in Wexford, the parish of Ballendiggin (or Ballindaggan). The family name DROHAN can be found in Waterford, Wexford and Cork counties. Specifically, I would like to know where in Ireland they were born and who their parents were. However, any information regarding these people would be greatly appreciated. Michael Pierce Drohan

    1. [WEX] DOYLE in Craan
    2. Hi, I just joined the list. I have a new clue. It's so new I haven't even looked at websites, books, maps, etc, yet! I may be descended from Elizabeth DOYLE of Craan, Co Wexford who married Edmond NOLAN of Ballinrush, Parish of Myshall, Co. Carlow c. 1768. I am familiar with Co Carlow, as I have been stuck there (researching from my home in Illinois, USA) for ages! And then, I get this clue and it's in another county! I had to look at a map of Ireland to find out where Wexford is! When I am finished (yeah right), I am going to know alot about Irish geography! Which is ok, as in school, I did well in that subject. Anyway, this couple had 4 boys and 6 girls. A daughter, Johanna, if this is my family, was my ggg grandmother. My Johanna lived in the Parish of Bagenalstown, Co Carlow. I don't know how or when or why the family got from one place to the other. The parishes of Myshall and Bagenalstown in Co Carlow are next to each other, but I don't know yet where Craan, Co Wexford is in relationship to them. I am guessing the couple would have married in her parish unless her family moved to Co Carlow and then she met Edmond there? Debbie

    1. [WEX] Marriage index
    2. Joan
    3. The offer I posted may not be clear. The marriage index is a list of names with the volume and page number to help in ordering certs. It is like this 1870 Catherine Carbery Rathdrum 17 861 Mary Carbery New Ross 19 419 Mary Ann Carbery Wexford 19 483 It does not list spouse. If you have a name and approximate time and not a common name maybe I can help. I have a ? Sullivan. It is not a way to search for this type of question. Hope I explained it a little better. Joan
