    1. Re: [WEXFORD] WEXFORD Digest, POOR CARA
    2. Dear Listers, It seems to me almost everyone on this list simply refuses to follow Cara's directive when responding to mailings. Ladies and Gentlemen: When you hit on the reply button, you know enough to put the subject matter in the Subject line, whether it's a surname, etc. Can't you see, when you start to write in the body of the mail, that you are sending your small message and ALL of the messages on the original mailing???? If there is anyone on this list that doesn't know how to cut and paste the pertinent part of the message you're replying to, and eliminating the rest of the redundant messages, contact me. I speak computer english and can explain how that's done. I for one, am very tired of reading my own messages 5 or 10 times, when I contribute to the list. That will stop shortly. I won't reply with information. I'm only a lister, like everyone else, but it's Cara's directive. I couldn't agree with her more. If you have any respect for the work she does, try to follow her suggestions. Sorry, but that's how I feel, Peggy Leonard **************Great Deals on Dell Laptops. Starting at $499. 3. Thanks for the info John. There is a Bill Doyle in the Sydney area, who works for the CBC, who has done quite a bit of "digging" into our Doyles, so I can always get him to fill in the blanks. 3. Imelda ----- Original Message ----- From: "Shirley Newbold" <newbolds@hotmail.com> To: <wexford@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, January 25, 2009 5:42 PM Subject: [WEXFORD] Rathangan, Wexford Dear Barbara Miller, I have a slight reference to Stafford in Rathangan area which is mentioned in a letter written by John Cody, c. 1820, to his son in Prince Edward Island. There are the names of some neighbors toward the end of the letter which I am attaching for any who might have interest in this part of Wexford. ---------------------- Letter from John Cody of Rathangan, Co. Wexford, Ireland, To Patrick Cody, Prince Edward Island Date Sept 26, 1821 Dear Patrick, I now embrace an opportunity of writing to you as I have one going to London which will forward this letter into the hands of W. Hill Vc. I have to inform you that I read no account from you since I read an inclosed letter of yours from W. Hill in March 1820 and that letter was written in December 1815. To this letter I wrote an answer but never read any one Since. I have now to let you know that I am Still alive tho, very feeble but let my circumstances be as they will I could not have a greater gratification than to hear from you, Save only the unparalleled happening of once more Seeing You, a happening which I never expect to live to see. I have to inform you that our Country is in a most distressed Situation owing chiefly to dear land and low prices, but then we have not to complain of any of these things, yet you may consider that my Circumstances cannot be boasted much of. I am quite happy that you are all together in one place and likely to do well, at the time I wrote there was a letter written in answer to Patrick Cahills letter and another letter written by Mark Furlong. I am write content now in my old days supposing that my grey hairs may soon go to the grave to hear that you both are well Situated and in circumstances that will enable you to make out a lively hood for yourselves during life. I can assure you that it is happy for you that you left this country for there is much difference in the time here now and even then for there are very few in this country no matter how industrious they are but are very hardset to get through the world. Matt Cahill has taken his farm again which was out of Lease and Mark Furlong got married to Meg Ratford of Cullenstown and Mr. Boyce has put him out of his farm. I hope that I will hear shortly from you and that you will not forget letting me know is there any encouragement for any class of people to go to the place you are in as there are some talking of going out next spring from being reduced to low circumstances at home from the badness of the times. We are all in good health at present I mean your Brother in Laws and Sisters and their families. I am the only one myself that is feeble but old age must necessarily bring on me feeble days however I hope to live to hear from you once more which will be much gratification to me, Walter Stafford is well and his family, likewise John Moore who is married to Mary Redmand, James Moore and in short, all the neighbors are in good health. I conclude with my love to you both wishing you every blessing that heaven can bestow which is the sincere wish of your loving father John Cody PS If you write by post direct to Mr. John Cooney, Merchant, Wexford to be forwarded to me. (I have preserved the spelling but not the punctuation as it read as one long runon sentence. 3. I also have Doyle relatives. My great grandmother Ellen Doyle, daughter of James Doyle and Eleanor Murphy. They were from North East Mabou. Ellen Doyle married John Harding from Rear Port Hood Nova Scotia and had seven children 4 boys Richard, James John (my grandfather) & Patrick and 3 girls Mary Ellen, Catherine Isabel and Clara Anne. James Doyle immigrated to Nova Scotia from County Wexford Ireland with his brother John and settled in North East Mabou. 3. Hi Jim: Just to follow up on the Doyle's. The Doyle's I have been researching are mainly in the Isle Madame/Margaree areas. There are approx 8 families of brothers, sisters and cousins who arrived from Ireland 1819 to 1830. A number of these families inter-married as well, which is evidenced in the dispensations found in marital /church records. Your Doyle ancestors lived in the Ingonish area and seemed to stay in that region (presumably because of the high lands). I took a fairly quick look but I don't see an affiliation with the other Doyle's or their associated families. If you would like any additional info just let me know. Mine is still a work in progress. 1. [WEXFORD] Murphys of Enniscorthy
    2. Suzanne Tedeschi
    3. Dear Co. Wexford searchers, I do not know if anyone has access to Enniscorthy records, particularly RC Baptisms. I am desperately trying to find the parents of the following as I believe that most of them are brothers and sisters. All of them immigrated to the area around Rome, Oneida County, New York State in the USA . Some of them came in 1847. I do not know if there are civil birth records available but perhaps something would give the parents names. Most of their weddings occurred after they immigrated. They were witnesses in each others weddings, sponsored each other's children's baptisms and lived close to each other. If not siblings, perhaps cousins? It is most likely that the mother was called Mary but Ellen was an important name to them. John MURPHY born Dec 1819 , wed Bridget DOYLE, born Apr 1824 Anastasia MURPHY born 1821, wed Patrick REDMOND in 1850 in USA. Michael MURPHY born about 1822, wed Mary O'BRIEN Timothy b MURPHY born 1824, wed Catherine MAHAR Moses MURPHY born 1825, wed Mary REDMOND Mary b MURPHY born 1825-1826 Daniel MURPHY Aug 1826, wed Johannah CRIMMINS Julia MURPHY born 1827, wed William SINNOTT Thomas C. MURPHY born 1829, immigrated 1847 from Enniscorthy. (my great great grandfather) (He wed Catherine MERNA - dgt of Patrick & Anne, also from Enniscorthy). Catherine MURPHY born abt. 1830, wed Denis WHELAN James MURPHY born Bet. 1831 - Dec 1834 wed Anne CONNOR Charles MURPHY born about 1833 wed Margaret O'NEIL Nicholas MURPHY b. May 1844 wed Sarah J. LAMPHERE They insisted that they did not immigrate because of the famine so I suspect they might have been connected to the uprising or just came for work. Thank you for any help. God bless you for the research that you do for so many people. No one should ever be forgotten. Suzanne T.

    2. Cyril Newsome
    3. Peggy asked: "perhaps the actual Death Record from the GRO would list where interred?" Not really Peggy, they only list the date, time, cause of death and notifier. The Certificate is only the notice and record of the death. Internment is a personal thing and you can have your family bury you in almost any burial ground of your choice, subject of course to your right to be buried in it. I live in Parish but have opted not to be buried in the local Parish cemetery but in a Curacy Cemetery within the Parish, with my Ancestral family. This is quite a common thing here. slan Cyril Newsome Loch Garman ----- Original Message ----- From: <PeggyLeonard112@aol.com> To: <wexford@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, January 31, 2009 2:58 PM Subject: Re: [WEXFORD] WEXFORD Digest, CLINCH DEATHS > Hi Shelagh, > > I'm just thinking......perhaps the actual Death Record from the GRO would > list where interred? > What say you, Cyril? > > Peggy > > > In a message dated 1/31/2009 3:28:07 A.M.
