Hi Bob Thanks for the useful information - a few more Ramsbury Westall's to add to the list. As you point out Henry Westall (1799) married Hannah Hind (1801) on 14 Oct 1824. But I no idea who Henry's parents were. Possibly they could be John Appleford Westall (1764) + Elizabeth Lewington (1767) but I have no evidence for this. Can anyone shed light on this mysterious Henry? There are a lot of Westall's from Ramsbury and it can be quite hard to disentangle all the various family branches. Fred

Hi Eileen, I agree with you. Thomas W and Sarah Dobson were married in 1863 in Ramsbury. They had 11 children between 1866 and 1881. One of them was my namesake Frederick Westall (b. 19 May 1881, Ramsbury) who married Mabel Annie Denton (b.1884, Ramsbury) in 1907 in Hungerford (RD). Henry Thomas Westall (1879) was one of 11 children of Thomas Henry W (bap. 11 Apr 1841, Ramsbury) who married Sarah Dobson (b.1841, Ramsbury) in 1863. Thomas Henry Westall was the son of George Westall (b. 1806, Axford) and Elizabeth Spanswick (b.1809, Eastbury). They married 18 Dec 1827 in Ramsbury. I think in turn that George was probably the son of John Appleford Westall (b. 1764) and Elizabeth Lewington (b. 1767) who married 28 May 1787 in Ramsbury. John Appleford Westall was the son of Richard Westall (b.1730) and Jane Appleford (b.1739). John Appleford Westall was my 2nd cousin 6 times removed. We go back a long way! His dad, Richard, was the son of Mark (b.1703) and Sarah (n/k). So far I've got 16 George Westall's on my family tree - a fair number of them from the Ramsbury area!
