Yesterday, I received an email from a Hutchinson researcher concerning Caroline Agatha Hutchinson and her sister Louisa Catherine Hutchinson b 1859 India. Below is my answer to that email and then the original email follows that. My email is self explanitory. Depending on Monika's answer I believe this will put the question of Caroline Agatha Hutchinson to bed. Bob Monika, I am most pleased to have received your email about the Hutchinson family today. We are on the same page I believe as I have been trying to tie down the Caroline 'AGATHA" Hutchinson that married Thomas George Westall ca. 1884/1887? Am I right that this is the right Caroline and her middle name was Agatha? Please say yes! :-) If that is her middle name you have settled a discussion that has gone on for some time. Thomas George Westall was the grandson of William Westall the artist b 12 Oct 1781 Norwich, Berkshire, Eng. and d Jan 1850 North Bank, St. John's Wood, Middlesex, Eng. Thomas and Caroline Agatha eventually ended up in St. Lucia, BWI. He was a successful businessman and was instrumental in getting St. Lucia it's independence. I have stood at the grave of Thomas and Caroline in Choc Cemetery, Castries, St. Lucia. The manager of the Choc Cemetery knew all about Thomas and said that when poor people would need medicine Thomas, the owner of the largest drug store in Castries, would give the medicine. Standing there and looking at his grave was very meaningful to me! For your revue I have included an attachment with my info on the Hutchinson family starting with Alexander Ross Elliot Hutchinson's mother Caroline. You mentioned that Louisa married her cousin George William Caldwell Hutchinson. George's father was John Ross Hutchinson. How does John tie into Alexander. Were they brother's? Again thank you for taking the time to email me with the info. I took what you gave me and tried to add it to my info. Again please look it over and give me your thoughts when you have a chance. :-) God Bless you and yours. George William Caldwell Hutchinson was the son of John Ross Hutchinson, Joint Magistrate of Delhi, and was one of the first Europeans to be killed in the Indian Mutiny in 1857. The widow Harriet Louisa Hutchinson escaped with her children and reached the UK in 1858. George and Louisa Hutchinson married at Alveston Parish Church close to Tiddington House, the bride's home. They had at least three children: Phyllis Irene Caldwell, born 1887, Colin Becher Alexander, born 1889, and Enid Frances Caldwell, born 1891. Colin was killed in World War 1, Phyllis married Clive Uzielli and Enid appears to have remained unmarried. George was an artist and artmaster at Clifton College Public School, Bristol. Unfortunately, Louisa died of meningitis in April 1893 and it was her brother Alexander Hutchinson of Tiddington House who registered her death. George married again in 1897 and had another daughter. I just thought you might be interested. Monika Butler, Yorkshire
