Bob, Sorry I haven't been on line much recently as I've been away on business. According to my records George Westall (b.1841, Hungerford) married Mary Hickerton (b. 1844, Stanton St Quenton Wilts) in Chippenham in Sep Qtr 1862. Pairing the right George Westall with a Mary together during this period is like trying to locate mines by stamping your feet! Effective but futile! ^_^ I also have George Westall (b.1854, Ramsbury) as being married to Martha Ann Pike (b.1859, Ramsbury). There have been several points of connection between the Westall and Pike, Lewington and Woolford families of Ramsbury. George Westall and Martha Pike had 9 children, one of them being William George Westall (b. 1876, Ramsbury). I have 8 children from the marriage of John Newman Westall (b.1815, Ramsbury) and Charlotte Mead (b.1820, Gt Bedwyn). I have the children you listed, plus an Elizabeth Westall (bap 17 Aug 1845, Ramsbury). I also have a George Westall (b.1854, Ramsbury) who married Elizabeth Spanswick (b.1809, Eastbury). But according to my mine detector their son George (b.1854, Ramsbury) married a Sarah Wooton (b.1867, Ramsbury) in 1885 in Hungerford (RD). It seems that George was a very popular name amongst the Ramsbury Westall's - giving future genealogists endless fun tracking them down ^_^ Fred -------------------------------------------------- From: "Bob Westall" <bobatbmw@cox.net> Sent: Friday, November 07, 2008 9:14 PM To: "'J & E Armstrong'" <ellmay7@bigpond.net.au>; <WESTALL@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [WESTALL] Westall > Eileen, > > > > This really does get more confusing as the George Westall (b Bet. Fred, And the beat goes on! First, I am still not sure about Hickerton? More researched needed there? Second, for George Westall b 1854 I have his wife as Martha Ann Pike b Apr - June 1859 in Hungerford. They show in the 1881 census and the ages match perfectly to what Free BMD shows. Although I guess matching ages do not mean much do they? Their 1881 Census follows? 1881 England Census Name: George Westall Age: 27 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1854 Relation: Head Spouse's Name: Martha Gender: Male Where born: Ramsbury, Wiltshire, England Civil Parish: Ramsbury County/Island: Wiltshire Country: England Street address: White House Lane Condition as to marriage: Married Employment status: View Image Occupation: Ag Lab Registration district: Hungerford Sub registration district: Hungerford ED, institution, or vessel: 14 George Westall Head..M..27..Agr Laborer..Wilts, Ramsbury Martha Westall Wife..M..22......................Wilts, Ramsbury William Westall Son...S...4 ....................
