Bob, Thanks for your valuable work with identifying the mysterious Mary who married George Westall (1841). For some reason (I forget which!) I chose Hickerton in favour of Woolford. In light of your research I might need to change that. Anyway, this is what I have on Mary Hickerton and her marriage to George Westall: 1. Mary Hickerton was born Sep Qtr 1844 in Stanton St Quentin Wilts. (Free BMD). She was the dau. of James Hickerton (b.1814, Stanton) and Susannah Tanner (b.1815, Malmesbury, Wilts). James and Susannah were married Jun Qtr 1838 in Bradford Upon Avon, Wilts. Mary had 6 siblings - one of whom was a Thirza Sophia Hickerton (b. 1841, Turbery Wilts.). (One of the children of George Westall and Mary was called Thirza Maria, and this may have been what pointed me to Mary Hickerton as Thirza is an unusual name). George Westall married Mary Hickerton in Sep Qtr 1862 in Chippenham Wilts. Their children were: 1. William James Westall born Sep Qtr 1869 in Colerne (or Corsham) Wilts. He died bef. 1918. He married Ann Howells in 1894 in Pontypridd, Glamorgan. 2. Harriett A Westall was born in 1866 in Colerne. 3. Thirza Maria Westall was born Dec Qtr 1874 in Blaina Monmouthshire (Wales). She married Albert Edward Gibbons in Jun Qtr 1899 in Bradford Upon Avon, Wilts. 4. Martha Jane Westall was born in 1877 in Blaina Mon. She married William Mundy in Dec Qtr 1909 in Bradford upon Avon, Wilts. 5. Henrietta Lydia Westall was born Sep Qtr 1879 in Bradford upon Avon, Wilts. She married Sam Willans Prior in Sep Qtr 1900 in Bradford upon Avon. 6. Daisy Mabel Westall was born abt. 1880 in Bradford upon Avon. She married Thomas John Justice in Sep Qtr 1906 in Bradford upon Avon. 7. George Thomas H Westall was born Mar Qtr 1882 in Bradford upon Avon. He married Lily Slatford in Dec Qtr 1907 in Melksham (RD) Wilts. 8. Alice Mary Westall was born abt. 1884 in Bradford upon Avon. She married Lewis S Bainton in Dec Qtr 1913 in Bradford upon Avon. 9. Henry John Westall was born abt. 1886 in Bradford upon Avon. 10. Minnie Victoria Westall was born in Jun Qtr 1887 in Bradford upon Avon. She married George Frederick Care in Sep Qtr 1913 in Bradford upon Avon. I have traced many of these lines and some of them still live in Wales. So as I am Welsh myself I have a bit of a soft spot for this branch of my family ;0)! I hope this helps. As I said before I think the link with Hickerton might be via the choice of Thirza as a name for her child, the same as her sister. Sometimes it can be as tenuous as this..
