Hi Bob, Happy New Year to you! I'm all fired up and motoring through my Westall family history! I'm getting to be quite boring I think! ;-) Anyway, I just got the Marriage Certificate for George and Mary Hickerton, and it confirms my hypothesis I think. They were married on 20th Sep 1862 in the parish church at Stanton St Quintin, Wilts. Both were 'of full age' and neither was literate. They were both living in Stanton St Quintin at the time of marriage. George gives occupation as shepherd, the same occupation as his father William. Mary's dad was James Hickerton, and one witness was Jacob Hickerton (Mary's brother) - again all fitting very well the information on my tree. The other witness was an Emma Millard (difficult to read!) and I have yet to determine if she was related to George.. I hope this helps. So I'm quite confident that Mary Hickerton was the wife of George Westall, the son of William Westall and Sarah Pounds .... well as far as anyone can be after more than 100 years!
