I am looking for more information on my ancestor, William Westall, particularly his parents' names. He was born in approximately 1795 in "Cromish, Oxfordshire" (1861 Census) or "Ipstone, Oxfordshire" (1871 Census) I believe that "Cromish" would be present Crowmarsh Gifford and "Ipstone" would be the present day Ipsden in Oxfordshire. This area is quite close to the Berkshire border, so he could be related to the Berkshire Westalls in some way. William Westall was a shoemaker and moved to London where he was living in Marylebone in the 1841, 1851, 1861 and 1871 censuses. He married 1. Margaret ("Margrett") Wood in 1819. She was born in Newcastle-on-Tyne in 1803. They had children Fanny 1821, John 1826, Julia 1828, Alice 1831, Margaret 1838, Mary 1840 and possibly Charles. 2.Mary Ann Wells b 1830, Wantage, Berks M.1864 Daughter Alice Westall married George Thomas Nicholls in 1852 went to Australia in 1855 where they lived in Burwood or Enfield in Sydney.
