Bob, I have been aware of the Oswaldtwistle branch of the Westall's for some time but so far I have not found a connection with other Westall groups from southern England. I originally thought that maybe they had migrated north in the 1830's with the decline of agriculture and the emergence of the textile industry in the northern towns. But it seems they were in the Blackburn/Oswaldtwistle area long before this. There are other Lancashire groups of Westall's, and I have some idea where they originated but no luck with this Oswaldtwistle group. Hopefully, someone out there will have made the connection, but at the present time it looks as though they are an independent Westall group (and they are still strong in that area today). Fred
