    3. Richard, As always a very good question. In the 1851 UK Census I found John Tarrant Westall b 1808 Whitechapel, London. Living with john was his mother Anna Maria, and she showed as Married not a widow. I will look further for other possible matches. Either he or she was born in 1786. They had three children John Tarrant, William Frances Lovelock and Eliza Wells. I was told they were born in Whitechapel, London in 1807, 1810 and 1817 respectively. However IGI shows that William Frances was the first born on 14 Dec 1802, being baptised on 4May 1810; John Tarrant was born 16 Dec 1807 and baptised also on 4 May 1810. The record for Elizabeth Wells is that she was baptised on 28 Dec 1823, although she may well have been born in 1817. If 1786 is the correct date of birth I should think it must be Anna Maria - 16 is a possible age for her first child and it seems less likely that William was 16 at that time. It may be that 1786 is a baptism date but birth was earlier. I could find no record for a William Westall born in Bristol in 1786 or thereabouts. My enquirer wanted to know if her William Westall was related to my ancestor William. I thought not but I know you have extensive knowledge which may assist. Also I am gathering information on William Bury Westall and would be happy to pass on what I knopw. Richard
