    3. Well well well it appears that Ernest aka Charles, deserted ship - Thanks Dorothy and to your mate for your great detective work. Sounds like he started a new life in Australia after deserting ship in Sydney and that would explain how he got here and why he isn't on passenger lists at the National Archives etc. I will get onto a mailing list I am part of on immigration and see if more info can be found on him from those crew lists. Mum & I are planning on getting a copy of his death cert from QLD as soon as we can afford it - to me it appears that by the time he died he 'felt' free enough to make known his mother's correct maiden name of HEAD as opposed to ALLEN on his marriage cert. I have to wonder if he was still married to Louie when he married my Great Grandma - mmmm I wonder if he remarried after he left Great Grandma somewhere after 1930? The plot thickens..... I am off now to get my magnifying glass and play detective.... Sherlock Holmes eat your heart out!!!!!
