    3. Well well well it appears that Ernest aka Charles, deserted ship - Thanks Dorothy and to your mate for your great detective work. Sounds like he started a new life in Australia after deserting ship in Sydney and that would explain how he got here and why he isn't on passenger lists at the National Archives etc. I will get onto a mailing list I am part of on immigration and see if more info can be found on him from those crew lists. Mum & I are planning on getting a copy of his death cert from QLD as soon as we can afford it - to me it appears that by the time he died he 'felt' free enough to make known his mother's correct maiden name of HEAD as opposed to ALLEN on his marriage cert. I have to wonder if he was still married to Louie when he married my Great Grandma - mmmm I wonder if he remarried after he left Great Grandma somewhere after 1930? The plot thickens..... I am off now to get my magnifying glass and play detective.... Sherlock Holmes eat your heart out!!!!! 3. Looks like you really hit the jackpot with Charles .... it took me 5000 names to get my first convict and another 5000 to get my first bigamist! By the way, Charles/Ernest Francis was my 5th cousin, three times removed! I guess that makes us 7th or 8th cousins.. -------------------------------------------------- From: "Julie Watt" <wattlebee@bigpond.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 23, 2010 10:07 AM To: "Dorothy Jones" <dee-jay@jones2115.fsnet.co.uk>; <westall@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [WESTALL] Charles Westall Middlesex to Australia > Well well well it appears that Ernest aka Charles, deserted ship - Thanks > Dorothy and to your mate for your great detective work. > > Sounds like he started a new life in Australia after deserting ship in > Sydney and that would explain how he got here and why he isn't on > passenger lists at the National Archives etc. I will get onto a mailing > list I am part of on immigration and see if more info can be found on him > from those crew lists. > > Mum & I are planning on getting a copy of his death cert from QLD as soon > as we can afford it - to me it appears that by the time he died he 'felt' > free enough to make known his mother's correct maiden name of HEAD as > opposed to ALLEN on his marriage cert.
