    3. Does anyone have any WHITTAKER ancestors who resided in Huddersfield? I have been searching for proof of the death of my ancestor, and yesterday found a small notice in the Leeds Mercury from Nov. 1865 stating that a John WHITTAKER died Sep. 17, 1865 at York Cottage, in Parell, India, and that he was formerly of Huddersfield, Yorkshire. My ancestor was born about 1827 in Oulton, Leeds, West Yorkshire. He was the son of Robert WHITTAKER, a tailor and draper, and Hannah WRIGGLESWORTH. John WHITTAKER was a joiner, carpenter, builder by occupation and had business dealings in and around Oulton and Lancashire, before filing for bankruptcy, then being sent to debtors prison in the Gaol of York, before finally going to India in the late 1850s. Would like to confirm if the death notice is that of my ancester, and need proof he lived in Huddlesford. Marina
