Another way to find reference numbers is under the "Source" tab on the right side of the Ancestry "image viewer" layout. You may have to un-hide this panel by clicking the ">>" on the right side of the screen. And as an alternative to the WYAS CALM catalogue, you could use collection guide 1 or 2 (http://www.archives.wyjs.org.uk/archives-collections-guides.asp), depending on the denomination of the church. On Ancestry, page 1 of 6 for the 1755 "Halifax, St Hilda" records has the WYAS source citation "Old Reference Number: D9/6; New Reference Number: WDP9/6". Collection guide 1 says "WDP9" corresponds to Dewsbury, All Saints, with events dating back to 1538. "WDP9" also corresponds to two missions in Dewsbury, but these records don't start until well after 1755. On another note, the page http://www.archives.wyjs.org.uk/archives-ancestry.asp has been updated; the next phase of the WYAS collection is due to be launched in the springtime. It was previously expected for the end of 2011. I understand the delay is Ancestry's doing. Chris Morley http://www.MorleyOfHalifax.com
Chris, thank you for this comprehesive reply. Isn't it wonderful that all Non-Conformist registers will also be on Ancestry? -----Original Message----- From: Chris Morley <info@morleyofhalifax.com> To: WEST-RIDING <WEST-RIDING@rootsweb.com> Sent: Mon, 16 Jan 2012 17:32 Subject: Re: [WRY] Continuing St Hilda ...
