Hello, I have reached another impasse. Mary Elizabeth KENYON married in the Huddersfield Registration District during June Quarter of 1900. There are only three persons mentioned on FreeBMD and the other two people married each other. I have tried downloading the entire quarter for Huddersfield but nothing can be worked out. Rod, Here is a partial answer. I didn't find the actual marriage register entry, only the banns. Ancestry.co.uk has a WRY marriage collection. I found marriage banns for John BAILEY and Mary Elizabeth KENYON, 1st-8th-15th April 1900 at Holmbridge, St David. Both parties were "of this parish". Banns for the Ben KAYE/Agnes WAKEFIELD couple appear on the same page. Looking at the FreeBMD index, there are entries for Mary Elizabeth KENYON m. Huddersfield (Q2 1900) vol. 9a pg. 573 John BAILEY m. Huddersfield (Q4 1900) vol. 9a pg. 575. So possibly John BAILEY's record was mis-indexed by the GRO. Sometimes the volume/page references in the GRO index are okay but are mis-transcribed in one of the online indices. The workaround is to look at another agency's transcription, i.e. try findmypast.co.uk if you already tried FreeBMD.
